THRASS REPORT
THRASS … bird, rabbit, cat, kitten, duck,
school, queen has filled our homes and school this year! THRASS, which stands
for Teaching Handwriting Reading And Spelling Skills, is a revolutionary new
"whole-picture" keyword system, which will benefit all children on
their journey towards spelling and reading proficiency.
The staff of Underberg School were privileged
to host and be trained by the author of THRASS, Mr Alan Davies, from the United
Kingdom. The scheme is used extensively in Australia, Canada and Europe. We are
proud to be the first government school in Africa to adopt this wonderful,
progressive system. The system is taught with the help of raps and sequences in
order to make learning modern and exciting.
The children love it – spelling has never
been SO much fun!
