THRASS FOR PARENTS

Parents can play an extremely important role in helping their children to learn to read, write and spell. This website contains details of many resources that can help parents understand both how THRASS is taught in the classroom and how they can also help their children at home.

Key Facts about THRASS explains the main features of THRASS, the reasons for using it and what teachers, assistants and parents say about it. Parents are also encouraged to become familiar with the features, phases and stages of the programme by participating in a free email-course using the www.thrass-tips.co.uk portal. This popular course, three separate emails sent at weekly intervals, involves activities with webcards, a profilecard and a calendar chart.

In the PHONICS 4 PARENTS website, there is information on how to register for and download v5 of the THRASS Phoneme Machine, a groundbreaking computer programme that uses moving human lips to demonstrate the pronunciation of sounds (phonemes) and hundreds of frequently used English words, four introductions to English Phonics, using streamed Windows Media Video (wmv) and a range of resources to download.
