In August 1992 Nursery World readers
heard about THRASS a new system of teaching handwriting, reading and
spelling developed by educational psychologist Alan Davies. Here,
together with Senior Lecturer in Modern Languages Education Susan
Wareing, he discusses why nursery children should, from the start,
be taught both the names and the sounds of letters.
