Mind boggling! An awful lot crammed into a short time but most stimulating and inspiring. A far better approach to phonics. Alan & Laola were thorough and professional. We loved the humour too. A worthwhile two days.

Well done on a wonderfully thought-out scheme, superbly presented by two extremely talented teachers. I feel honoured to have been included in this course. I found the course really informative and sure came together for me on the second day! The practical examples and the participation made the whole scheme much easier to grip onto. I feel changing to this scheme is ideal and positive but rather a huge task!

It was great to hear the philosophy behind THRASS – it is an approach that I’ve instinctively used but without the backup and theory. One small criticism is that some of the basic skills were perhaps overdone. I will never approach the teaching of spelling and reading in the same way again.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the past two days. I can’t wait to get back to start ‘THRASSING’ our staff. The presentation was lively, entertaining, and very informative. THRASS has answered many questions and problems we have with our special needs learners.

Thank you so much for a wonderful course! I think the concept is going to be life-changing to the pupils I teach. The course was well presented and covered all the sections: rather too briefly but just enough to get the gist of it. We could have spent a little less time on repeating pics, words, CDs, raping etc (which were fun but easy enough to grasp) and more time on the more complex issues and concepts. The course could be longer e.g. 3-4 days or maybe a follow-up day? I loved the jokes and demonstrations. Also demonstration of all the available aids. It would have been great to have had a few ‘real, live children’ in to see you working hands on with them. All in all, a very worthwhile course, fascinating information. I wouldn’t have missed it for anything.

Exciting and challenging; it all makes a lot of sense. I thoroughly enjoyed the full two days and all presentations. I have learnt a lot, and had to relearn/rethink so much of what I have known and been teaching. I feel daunted – not ready to go in and teach, but also very keen to go ahead. I am very glad to be able to be present at some demonstration lessons next week. Thank you for a wonderful two days.

Very enlightening, with obviously many, varied opportunities to teach spelling, reading and handwriting in a dynamic way. Very well presented, with appropriate anecdotes, humour etc. Thank you for taking the time to chat during breaks too.

The workshop was truly and eye-opener. It made me realize that the English language is very complex, but THRASS definitely makes it easier to teach and learn. The course was what it promised to be and because of our mindset, it initially seemed very intimidating but as we went on I began to relax and learnt a hell of a lot. I am going to enjoy practising THRASS on my own children and to some extent on my pupils in class. Thank you for the fun and laughter as well.

Mind blowing. Now one knows why they all fall down mid-school. I’m excited about this new method and on Monday morning I’ll start with my class. I’ve enjoyed the interaction, love the material and am excited. My brain is full – what a worthwhile course! Have to convince the school to follow, but my grade is starting on Monday!
