GUIDED TRAINING FOR TEACHERS, ASSISTANTS AND PARENTS
THRASS IN
KWENA BASIN,
MPUMALANGA, SOUTH AFRICA
In May 2010 some of the THRASS UK
Team visited two farm schools in the Kwena Basin,
Mpumalanga, South Africa. The two schools, along with
hundreds of other government schools, have benefited
from THRASS SING-A-LONG resources provided through the
THRASS Absa TalkTogether Project. For the children at
the schools, English is not their home language. At
Umthombopholile Primary School we are able to watch the
school’s first ever production – a concert, in which
children from various Grades throughout the school
perform the SING-A-LONG songs and short related
sketches. At Klipspruit Combined School we are able to
watch two separate videos of teachers using THRASS with
a Grade 3 class and a Grade 7 class.
