Thousands of
schools in the UK and Australia are now using the THRASS (Teaching
Handwriting Reading And Spelling Skills) publications and the
associated interactive computer programme THRASS-IT. The THRASS-IT
CD ROM comes in both PC and Mac formats and it teaches children
(parents and teachers!) about the building blocks of reading and
spelling, that is, the 44 phonemes (speech sounds) of spoken English
and the graphemes (spelling choices) of written English.
