The
teaching staff at Holy Rosary School in Limpopo are convinced that THRASS is
the best thing that has happened to English, spelling and phonics. Many
children in Africa cannot read or write English, even when they reach high
school age but the teachers at Holy Rosary School tell us how THRASS is
helping the children to speak better English and also to read at a much
younger age. THRASS is a lot of fun and it makes the children want to work
harder and learn more.
The
children particularly love the THRASS SING-A-LONG songs and in the video we
see children of all ages enthusiastically performing a selection of the
songs. SING-A-LONG is described as being very motivational and it helps the
children overcome the difficulties they have pronouncing the words and also
helps them to spell accurately. But it’s not just the children who love
SING-A-LONG, the staff do too.
We also
see children of different ages being taught using the THRASS Picturechart
and Phoneme-Grapheme Cards. What is particularly striking is that even the
youngest children demonstrate an excellent understanding of phonemes and
graphemes, and their spelling is excellent.
Holy
Rosary School would like to say a very big thank you to THRASS and Absa Bank
for enabling the school to learn English in such a very easy way.
