GUIDED TRAINING FOR TEACHERS, ASSISTANTS AND PARENTS
FARM SCHOOL
SING-A-LONG CONCERT
KWENA BASIN, MPUMALANGA
Umthombopholile Primary School is a
farm school in the Kwena Basin, Mpumalanga, South
Africa. It is one of hundreds of government schools that
have benefited from THRASS SING-A-LONG resources,
provided through the THRASS Absa TalkTogether Project.
For the children at the school, English is not their
home language. Here, we are able to watch the school’s
first ever production – a concert, in which children
from various Grades throughout the school perform the
SING-A-LONG songs and short related sketches. The
concert was directed by Margaret McGillivray, one of two
teachers (both former student teachers at the University
of the Witwatersrand) working in the Kwena Basin, who
are sponsored by Absa.
