Hilary – an awesome instructor. Thank you so much for the fruitful course. We need more of such workshops to strengthen the learning and teaching in our schools. Viva THRASS!

Very interesting, educative, refreshing and motivating. My wish is that every teacher should have this enrichment course, especially the Foundation Phase educators.

Absolutely fantastic! In addition to the THRASS material, I got great hints on general school teaching, maintaining discipline and keeping the attention and focus of the learners when in a class/lecture situation. Greatly impressed!

Super. Great hands on activities, good examples and practising activities. Hilary had good knowledge about material and good positive energetic attitude.

Hilary is dynamic. She speaks clearly and her explanations are easy to understand. I now know how much more I can be doing in class relating to THRASS. Hilary gave many wonderful ideas for games and how to make learning fun. An excellent, worthwhile course which everyone should attend.

A wonderful, informative two days! Super resources and a fantastic way of teaching basic skills.

Very informative! It ties up all knowledge of phonics and word recognition for reading and spelling purposes in a very user-friendly manner. The focus on analysis and pattern usage is a very useful tool for learners to utilise while enjoying this multi-sensory approach. Hilary conveyed information and answered questions with passion and expertise.

Wonderful, and very excited to implement. A brilliant concept, this is really great. Well presented and structured. Learned a lot of new concepts and words. Wow!

An excellent course. I have tried many methods during my teaching and have not found anything as good as this one. It was fun and inventive and I am sure when properly implemented the children will benefit greatly from this fantastic way of teaching.

Wow! Wish I had known this years ago when my youngest child was battling - will be using this with him from now on. It needs little imagination to make this work in class as everything is provided!

A very good workshop, especially for us as educators doing English as a second language. Fun and interesting. I’m proud that I’m doing English as one of my learning areas. The sky is the limit!

Very interesting. I’ve enjoyed these two days and am excited to apply this in my classroom. Very well presented and fantastic communication skills.

Very interesting, informative and enjoyable.

Extremely informative, helpful and enlightening. Thank you so much Hilary for all your modest ways of getting us involved, explaining etc. An exciting and most enjoyable course!

A most insightful and clever way to do phonics – makes such sense. Hilary is an absolute hoot and such fun to be with! You are passionate about what you do, you love teaching and it comes across in your lessons. You have inspired me – thanks!

Interesting and informative. We enjoyed ourselves and are going to make a difference at our school.

Over the two days I learnt so much about sounds – I always just assumed there were 26, but Hilary helped us to understand the 44 phonemes and their graphemes. Fantastic course.

I enjoyed it very much and can’t wait to implement it in my class. Very motivating.

The ten stages were clearly defined and the clear way it was presented made it easy to follow. Hilary is passionate about THRASS and that was very inspiring.

Great facilitation and content. Very informative and student orientated. Super resources!

Very informative. I learned a lot even though I am not teaching in a Primary School. The material is the best, well thought through, easy to understand. Keep it up!

Excellent content and presentation. Very informative and the rationale for all the choices was explained. Gave me a chance to really re-evaluate many things I had taken as fact (in phonics systems). Really refreshing approach which made learning really fun.

A wonderful programme. The opportunity to improve literacy levels in our country is incredible with this programme. Hilary is a wonderful presenter – enthusiastic, warm and kept us engaged – NON STOP! Keen to explore ways to ensure implementation and sustainability.

I absolutely loved participating in this course – it was wonderful to see the THRASS programme as a whole in action – Hilary did a terrific job! As a Montessori teacher this will be very valuable as I can integrate it into the Montessori philosophy and language programme. Very exciting skills to have.

It was great, very enjoyable. Excellent resources were made available.

I enjoyed the course because I learned a lot, everything was explained to the best level. Thanks Mrs Davies for your kindness by handling all questions! Well done and keep it up!

Very educational and concepts were clearly explained. I can now go and implement it at our school. A lot of information was give to us.

I have gained a lot and now I know what to do to help a small child who is unable to read and spell. It really helped me a lot.

I was very happy to be chosen to attend this workshop and I really learned a lot.

Excellent course and resources which will really make this a fun program for children to use, therefore making learning fun and a whole lot easier. Can’t wait to start using it.

Fantastic - can’t wait to get started in class. There are some concepts that I look forward to tackling with my class of autistic children. Resources very clear and will be so useful in the classroom setting.

Enjoyed the course and, now that I have been using THRASS at school, it all made a lot more sense!

The course has given me a much better perspective and understanding and I will be able to use THRASS with more confidence. I really enjoyed it and feel inspired.

Excellent presenter, enthusiastic and extremely knowledgeable. I feel more confident to go back to school and continue THRASS in my classroom now and I hope we can have further courses to monitor our progress. Thank you for two days well spent – I’m keen to get back to class.

The course was an eye-opener for us as educators to improve in an additional language.

An excellent workshop!

Very interesting and very empowering. I learnt a lot.

Fantastic. I have been teaching THRASS for the last six months without having done the course. I got my info from other teachers and the THRASS website and found it hard to see the value in the system and knew I was not doing a great job. Now I’m going to have to go back and re-teach a lot of things I’ve done wrong, but am really looking forward to doing so – armed with the new games, songs and info! Thanks so much!

A wonderful experience. I have been struggling in the Foundation Phase, especially with spelling.

Interesting and fruitful. I have learnt new terms and am hopeful that the learners will benefit.

Interesting and I learnt a lot – THRASS is good.

Very interesting. Learners will benefit a lot and they will enjoy it. It will also involve learners a lot. We as teachers believe that learners learn through play, and they will enjoy the music. It was an excellent workshop.

A brilliant presentation. I had stopped using THRASS because of faltering too much, but I’m anxious to continue now. Well done!

Everything was good, though my problem was with the English as the presenter talks very fast.

Very challenging and interesting. More time was needed to grasp the use of consonants and vowels in word formation. Next time, please include tips on teaching reading to stammering children.

A wonderful two days. The knowledge I have gained will help me to teach English better. I love THRASS because it caters for all levels of learners. Thanks Hilary for an excellent presentation. I will share this information with my colleagues and as HOD I will monitor progress.

A wonderful two days. Hilary, your enthusiasm is a great encouragement! I’m looking forward to implementing THRASS and can’t wait to see the results.

Really enjoyed it. It opens up a whole new way of teaching learners.

I have learnt a lot as a first year teacher. I did feel that it was overlapping but I do understand that this is the way you need to do it with learners.

Good course, but I do feel the information could have been covered in one day.

The course was very fruitful, but more time was required. It was an eye-opener for me.

The THRASS programme is easy to start. Two days are good. Thought provoking and easy to follow.

Thought provoking. An easy start. Two days are perfect. Good extension to previous knowledge.

Lovely resources and course very motivational. Would be interested in a refresher course!

Great course! Learnt a great deal, even after having taught it for eight months. Definitely feel I can be more confident in teaching THRASS and use all the fantastic resources that are available.

Excellent. I have learnt a lot about THRASS and am looking forward to taking it back to school and using it in my classroom.

Very informative. A new way of looking at phonics and spelling. GREAT!!

Very good presentation. Thought provoking and easy to follow.

Very good view of the THRASS programme. Easy to start and to use. Two days are good. Thought provoking and easy to follow.

Very fruitful. Hopefully the learners will benefit! Keep the TalkTogether project up as it is really needed to change the lives of many needy learners.

A very good educative course. In the context of the general calibre of pupils that we have in the remote areas, there seems to be too much content to be grasped, but hopefully I think THRASS will be a massive success with time. Thank you Hilary and Alan.

It has helped me as an educator to understand and be clear in terms of sound, spelling etc, so as to impact what I clearly and confidently know to my learners.

The workshop was an eye-opener and 100% good, but the time was very limited. We need more workshops to have a clear understanding of how to implement THRASS.

Excellent presentation and materials. Looking forward to implementing THRASS in our school.

Very interesting and we hope it will have a good benefit to our children.

Hilary conducted this course at her utmost best. When I first heard about THRASS I hated it because I didn’t understand it. I am feeling very happy because I now know what THRASS is all about.

Very well presented. I really think that this course will benefit a lot of children in class.

Very well presented. I like Hilary’s humour – great fun!

Well presented and great content.

Very impressed with the presentation. Will start using this method immediately.

Very good and informative presentation. An excellent course and presenter – very enjoyable.

A very interesting and fruitful course. I enjoyed it very much and learned a lot about teaching THRASS. I think this programme is an excellent tool for teaching children to read and write.

Enjoyed the course.

Before the course I did not understand THRASS, but now I am looking forward to getting the staff to use it in Grades 3, 4 and above. The course was enjoyable and will help me to teach.

Fun filled two days! Very informative and easy to understand. Can’t wait to get our school on board.

Very informative and interesting. Facilitator very clear and humorous. Enjoyable.

Very good. Made me re-think new ways to teach phonics and gave me new ideas.

Got a better understanding of THRASS. Motivated and excited to go back and try out all these ideas.

Brilliant course. Hilary is really enthusiastic about what she does and it really motivates teachers to go back and inspire the children. So much information was given I definitely think that more than one course is necessary and I would recommend this course to everyone.

Very well presented – lively and interesting. Not a dull moment at all. A lot of information was given to us; showed us there are no boundaries with THRASS.

Well presented. Good thought and planning put into presentation and resources. Great aids to take away and use with our children. Well done!

Excellent presentation – clear instructions and explanation. I feel inspired to go back and implement what I have learnt. It would really benefit the learners who are learning disabled. A most enjoyable two days – it will change my whole method of teaching literacy from now on. The enthusiasm with which you presented the course has rubbed off!

I’ve been waiting to attend this course for two years and it was well worth the wait. Thank you for “turning the light on” to being able to more adequately analyse and assist assessments in spelling. I feel more empowered to support my pupils too, and am now up with my child who has really benefited from doing THRASS in Grade 0. Professionally done.

A great way to reintroduce old and stagnant content in a new, structured and comprehensive way. Although I teach students between 15 and 20, the sound principles and comprehensive programme can be easily adapted and presented in class. Thank you for an energetic, enthusiastic and well planned presentation.

Very insightful, clear and useful techniques used in teaching and assessing THRASS.

Excellent! A wonderful experience. It really opened a whole new world for me!
