GUIDED TRAINING FOR TEACHERS, ASSISTANTS AND PARENTS

THRASS TWO-DAY CERTIFICATE,
DAY 2, STAFFORDSHIRE, SEPT 24, 2007

Portable Document Format

Fantastic CPD for everyone across the school. It all makes so much sense! The activities and resources are fun and engaging for all the children. This will make a tremendous impact on the children’s ability to read and spell. Already began with Reception children after Day 1 and the results speak for themselves!

Very fast-paced and interesting. I find THRASS exciting because it teaches reading and spelling as it is! This is reality English. I find the hands-on approach interesting for the children.

A very lively presentation – that kept my interest and concentration. Now looking forward to putting what I’ve learnt into practice.

An informative two days. The resources are really useful and I can see how they are going to move our children on – in both spelling and reading.

Highly interesting. Have been re-educated and will certainly use my THRASS charts in everyday lessons. I am positive we will see a vast improvement in spelling and reading.

Very good, lots of ideas to help the children.

Very interesting learning about different phrases and knowing the meaning and how to use the THRASS charts in different ways and to put into practice.

A very interesting and informative two days. Looking forward to putting things into practice.

Very informative, interesting and enjoyable. Literature very good quality and hard wearing.

Fantastic training. I have already begun using THRASS within the Reception classroom and the children not only enjoy learning about it, but they pick it up very quickly. The new class, who have only been in school three weeks, have already picked up the rap with the letter boxes off by heart and are beginning to recognise the pictures. I also enjoy teaching the children THRASS!

Continued understanding of further stages of THRASS. Children really enjoyed first stages last year and became very confident naming letters by name (Reception/Year 1). Ideas for use with own children also taken from course. Practical ideas for stretching children also given for interactive ideas. We found that children were less confident with reading than spelling and writing. With introduction of Hotwords and THRASS 500 brought in, this should strengthen their reading skills. Very informative.

Course materials were excellent. The practical interactive fun approach made spelling accessible to all learners. The whole approach is much more logical than previous ones, in that it gives children the big picture from Day 1. I found the day clear, concise and informative.

Found much of today interesting and at times enlightening. Really feel able to lead and monitor THRASS implementation in school now and to begin a series of parent workshops. Entertaining presentation as always and many thanks to the host school for their hospitality.

A great extension and refresher from Day 1, particularly the use of keywords. Useful resources given out, especially the parent workshop CD-ROM.

A really stimulating, empowering course. We will make this fundamentally change the quality of writing in this school.

Very interesting and enjoyable second day. What THRASS the children have done already they find exciting and interesting. An interesting way to teach spelling and reading.

I look forward to working with the children as it makes it all look fun and enjoyable. Whilst giving them a great chance to learn to read, write and spell.

A very good presentation, which has helped me. I will use this in the future.

Super course. Lots of ideas for teaching THRASS. It has given me confidence to use THRASS within the class and to make it interactive. This has been very helpful for the teaching phonics.

Lots of information to take in. Felt I would have been better attending first day first! Would like to attend other meeting to become more familiar and confident.
