GUIDED TRAINING FOR TEACHERS, ASSISTANTS AND PARENTS

THRASS ONE-DAY FOUNDATION,
ISLE OF WIGHT, SEPT 1, 2006

Portable Document Format

Very interesting – it completely makes you re-think the whole process of reading and spelling. The one day course kept you interested and keen with lots of exciting information. A very exciting and interesting way of teaching reading and spelling – can’t wait to use it. Thank you very much Hilary.

Fantastic learning. Lots of ideas for classroom practice and enough detail and clarification to confidently use the system.

What a fantastic day. The presentation and resources involved in the THRASS training course really caught our imagination. We really look forward to implementing the programme this year.

An extremely interesting and worthwhile day. The presentation was lively and covered such a mass of information in a really clear way. I would have liked to have attended a two day course.

I can see the value of teaching the letter names first and look forward to using the THRASS system. A very worthwhile day. Thank you very much.

This was a very new and exciting way of teaching and very interesting and I look forward to using it. Thank you very much!

Very interesting and informative. Lots of new information and terms will be very helpful to me and very useful in the classroom. The way it was taught was enjoyable and clear to follow. A very good day.

I have found the course to be very valuable. During the day myself and my fellow Yr. 1 teacher were fitting into place how we can use this program to benefit our children at all levels.

An enjoyable day and very worthwhile spelling programme. I especially enjoyed the games – they will work well with my class. The software will be very useful for a child in my class who struggles to pronounce some phonemes.

I really enjoyed the day – and it really helped with my basic understanding of synthetic phonics – graphs, digraphs, phonemes, graphemes etc. I can also see how this will be really worthwhile in the classroom, not only during literacy, but in all subjects.

An excellent course. It was very well structured and informative. This is an excellent resource and I will recommend it to school.

Great day – felt rather overloaded at times! Hilary is a very good presenter, enthusiastic about her subject, great sense of humour. I have learnt a mass of new terms! Maybe we could have seen brief video excerpt of these lessons in school in action, to see how it looks in practice.

A very informative day. Hilary delivered the course in a way which made everything very easy to understand. Her tips for playing games with the children were a huge help and there is no doubt that ultimately the children in our school will benefit hugely. Thankyou!

A great day! I have been harping on about THRASS for nearly two years and it is great to finally have you here to share it all with the whole staff. I am really looking forward to everyone jumping on the THRASS bandwagon and bringing it into our classrooms in a more systematic way – even though I won’t be here to see it.

Feel that I am now able to use the THRASS charts more effectively in the classrooms. Looking forward to seeing the results in the children’s spelling and reading. Very informative.

Found course very interesting, learnt the meanings of many of the terms used. Slightly confused with some aspects of THRASS but I am sure these will be overcome once up and running in our school. I will be interested to see how the lower ability children develop using this approach.

Thoroughly enjoyed the day. Very excited about using THRASS in the classroom.

Well worth the time. A dip in the vast ocean of THRASS. I look forward to learning more through school and work friends.

I really enjoyed this day and feel there is a lot more to learn.

I found the course very informative and I certainly learnt a lot. These are parts I am looking forward to trying with the class, especially those that involve music.

Found course interesting, but would have been better if went on for two days. Felt it was a bit long.

Really enjoyed today. I felt I have learnt quite a bit and it would help with explaining to my children as well within the school.

The entire course was excellent, not only because THRASS appears such a great programme but also because of Hilary’s enthusiasm. We are looking forward to running THRASS alongside Jolly Phonics in Reception this year. Thank you!

Interesting to see what is involved in the THRASS system of teaching reading and spelling. Gave insight into how the resources would be used throughout the school.

A fun, informative and relevant day! Although there has been lots to take in, the materials we have should make this easy to put into place. Liked the CD – could this go any further to include high frequency words to construct sentences. Thankyou!

Interesting and informative day – made me re-think the way I have been implementing phonics and see this as a much easier way for children to understand.

Very enjoyable day, clearly presented with excellent examples throughout. Having already instigated part of the program in the class it was good to see how the whole package works together.

Very informative, quite intensive! The day gave us a fantastic insight into THRASS. It was quite a struggle to keep up with the terminology – almost like learning a new language in English! Thank you Hilary – excellent presentation, superbly delivered.
