GUIDED TRAINING FOR TEACHERS, ASSISTANTS AND PARENTS

THRASS ACCREDITED CERTIFICATE, EASTERN CAPE, SA, OCT 12-13, 2007

Portable Document Format

Very interesting and exciting. Thoroughly covered, outstanding presentation. Much food for thought and a mind shift for those of us who have taught using traditional methods over many years!

Huge! It needs quite a mind-shift and it needs the whole school to change – not just one class and preferably the whole area! The large yellow chart is great and Laola really knows it.

THRASS can be used very successfully in our school. The children will really enjoy the pictures and raps and will be excited about it. I’m looking forward to seeing it in action in my classroom.

I am hooked! Very well presented – Laola knew about her product and presented from a teacher’s point of view. Very informative and thorough. Perhaps do course over three days and let us experience how this is implemented through the grades. Otherwise, a lovely course.

After coming in feeling rather concerned about the change, I have completed the course with a very different attitude. I think the children will benefit immensely from the programme. It will most certainly extend the children and I look forward to starting the programme. I do, however, feel that I must revise and get to know the programme thoroughly before I tackle it.

Very well structured. Laola presented the materials very practically. Lively and enthusiastic. I relate to this course material and can present this programme with confidence to my pupils.

An eye-opener – very excited to start something fresh even though I am coming to the end of my teaching career. Laola was very knowledgeable and confident on the subject. Well worth attending!

Laola is a dynamic presenter who works very systematically with clear, user-friendly instructions, information etc. The course is extremely comprehensive and one wonders if follow-up workshops would be necessary or required. A most pleasant learning environment prevailed and the time flew!

Very comprehensive! Lectures were very informative and the pace was brisk. Initially I was very sceptical about the THRASS approach but am now very excited and am looking forward to implementing it in my class. Thank you, Laola, for your patience and your enthusiasm!

Very interesting. Quite a useful tool. Love the handwriting ideas.

Very intense. Would like to use it. Some things make sense now, whilst others are still confusing.

Very informative – learnt so much. I think THRASS is a wonderful programme and will make my teaching much more effective. Looking forward to working with the programme. Would have liked to have spent more time looking through the various resources – books, CDs, games.

Brilliant. Loved it. Phonics finally makes sense. Look forward to implementing into my class. Maybe a lot of info for two days - maybe a third day? Good explanations, questions answered. Interactive.

Presenter knew her product well. I liked the handwriting style. I liked the yellow chart and letter boxes. Understood the concept after initially finding some aspects confusing.

Very interesting. A bit daunting at first and a bit too much to take in, in two days. Looks like it works. Enjoyed myself. Can’t wait to try it in my class.

Am excited to start – sounds like it should improve things tremendously if correctly implemented. It will most certainly take some concentration on my part to get to grips with all the new jargon and how to teach it to the kids. Sounds very labour intensive when added to all that we already are assessing – will take lots of time which does not excite me – admin is already heavy.

Well presented and very informative. Maybe the ‘15 Minutes a Day’ workshop can be added on to make a 3 day course for more time practicing activities, as I feel this will help me when I start.

Very interesting. I like the change and I enjoyed learning about a new way of teaching H,R & S skills. To run through the picturechart from Grade 1- 7 makes a lot of sense. Please advertise it for Intermediate Phase as well – somehow it comes across as a Foundation Phase course.
