GUIDED TRAINING FOR TEACHERS, ASSISTANTS AND PARENTS

THRASS TWO-DAY CERTIFICATE,
WOLVERHAMPTON, OCT 15-16, 2007

Portable Document Format

Excellent course – looking forward to implementing what we have learned.

A very informative two days which contained a lot of information to assimilate. It was useful that the programme can start with Nursery aged children and be carried through to Y6.

Lots of information to take in. Very good resources. Videos were good and very interesting.

A thought-evoking experience, challenging many of the concepts and teaching methods which we already have in place. Much food for further discussion and consideration!

Good interactive course. There is a lot of information that has been given. I look forward to implementation and already have some resource ideas!

Interesting concepts. I personally learnt from it. Very different to how we currently teach.

Very interesting and informative. I have learnt a lot. A very different way to teach our children.

There were some positive strategies I would take on board but there were others I wasn’t quite convinced about. I also feel there was much to take on board in two days.

Lots of information to take in over the two days. However, very useful that activities were modelled.

A different approach that I will need to digest – and to develop my understanding will need to watch and/or read your materials as you introduced us to a lot of information.

Enjoyable, steep (good) learning curve. A lot to take in, for two days. Require thinking time to allow things to sink in.

Lots of information in two days. Some very useful activities.

Thank you very much for the THRASS training. A lot of useful information was given which will become very enjoyable for the children to learn.

The rap/music was good and resources are plentiful. A lot to take in within two days but I will sit and study it at home closer. Thanks for a great two days.

Very interesting. A lot to take in.

Interesting, lots to take in. Probably hard to change ways of teaching.

The course was interesting, but to be honest I would not personally choose to use THRASS. I felt some key questions were not fully answered. The course was enjoyable but very intensive and quite hard work. I felt the understanding of good synthetic phonic programmes was limited and quite dismissive.

I enjoyed the practical parts most. Not sure how my Y5 bottom group will cope.

Good visual resources but a huge project to take on board. Still not sure how to fit it in with NLS during the literacy hour.

Loads of information. Hope it all stays put in my brain! Will put in place if possible in my lessons. Lots of useful information and I learnt a lot today and yesterday.

Thank you for the THRASS training and the resources. Very interesting – but probably need further training on THRASS.

Lots to take in. Very interesting. Need time to adjust our ways of teaching to accommodate new ideas.

Very good resources. Found it hard to take all information in at the fast pace. Good video shown.

We had a two-day course. I found that there was a lot of information to take in, in these two days.

Some useful ideas that I will implement in the next few days. A different concept of spelling. Need to think of how I teach spelling. A lot to take in!

Clear resources. Child/adult friendly!

The idea of THRASS is one to consider. It is something that would work well. On a personal note, work that I have done with my own children at home and in school using schemes such as Letterland, to hear you dismiss them was quite upsetting, knowing what my own children achieved without using THRASS.

The first thing that schools need to get right is their beliefs, principles and values! Staff need a deep understanding of what underpins effective teaching for learning. THRASS is an amazing opportunity to build onto your pedagogical beliefs a structured programme that will enable all learners to succeed and become INDEPENDENT! Look forward to doing amazing things with THRASS.

I thought it was a good course and it would be valuable to the school and the children’s learning.

Fascinating course. Exciting way to teach children. Learnt a lot myself.
