GUIDED TRAINING FOR TEACHERS, ASSISTANTS AND PARENTS

THRASS TWO-DAY CERTIFICATE,
PRETORIA, S AFRICA, OCT 12-13, 2007

Portable Document Format

Excellent! I can’t wait to start with the THRASS programme.

Wonderful training. It opened my eyes regarding the teaching of spelling. It was very interactive.

Teaching English is going to be more fun because the learners are going to be actively involved in the lessons. I am thankful to all who made the course possible.

Excellent! Thanks for an amazingly entertaining two days. Really enjoyed it. You’re such a good teacher, your enthusiasm is contagious and I can’t wait to start teaching children using your program.

I’ve learned a lot. I have the LSEN class and this is going to change everything for the best.

I really enjoyed the course a lot. You made me feel excited about teaching again. I’m looking forward to implementing THRASS in my class.

I enjoyed the course very much. I liked the energy and humour. It was indeed one of the most interesting courses I’ve attended. I am indeed inspired and motivated to use the THRASS method in my classroom. Thank you for making sense about the phonics aspect, as my mother tongue is Afrikaans and I struggled to explain spelling to children according to Letterland. Now I am more confident and extremely excited to implement this method.

I am very impressed. The learners have trouble with Letterland. I can’t wait to start. Thank you very much. You are amazing. Keep it up.

Excellent, inspiring and very impressive training sessions. I’m surely looking forward to teaching my sister’s kids on this.

Why did I like the course? – because I just dooo! Thank you for not being boring! For being entertaining and very informative. May be even I will be able to spell.

Thank you very much for your hard work. Our learners are going to enjoy this programme; it will also assist learners from the township school, those who were doing African languages as medium of instruction because it is their first time doing English.

Interesting but will take a long time to get used to a different method of teaching spelling and phonics.

A very interesting presentation done lively and “dramatically” at times. Congratulations on your hard work. A bit long but excellent training course.

I am very impressed. A good program. Why didn’t someone in South Africa think about it?

Very interesting and amazing program. Will utilise it for my child and learners at school. Thank you for your hard work, smile and handshakes. Wish you luck, travel safe and god bless.

This has been a very fruitful workshop. It was a real eye-opener because most of the sounds were not properly pronounced and it also showed me how as a teacher I can deal with spelling mistakes. I think this method can also be reinforced in Grade 4-7 because learners in these phases have poor pronunciation and a lot of spelling mistakes. Thanks, Alan! Wish we can have another session with all our staff members at Eendracht Primary School.

I am happy about the new knowledge I gained from THRASS. How to use graphemes and phonemes. This will really improve our quality of education. Thanks for all your efforts to include our school as one of the schools to implement THRASS.

Alan is an amazing speaker - an extremely informing course and a lot of fun as well. I believe THRASS is brilliant and I will definitely use it in my teaching practicals as well as when I’m a qualified teacher.

Really clarified a lot of questions I had about phonics. It was an amazing course. Great for students!

This has definitely made my understanding of phonics so much easier! I have now got a lot more clarification and ideas on how I can implement it and all the knowledge it holds within the classroom. Thank you so much for everything.

Really enjoyed the presentation especially being able to watch the snippets of practical demonstrations. Would have liked to have had more teaching on how to use the Phoneme Machine, but the rest of the material was well taught and explained.

It had a great impact on me. I have learned a lot. Also, it influenced my professional development by changing my way of thinking of how to teach literacy in the near future. Enjoyed the whole course.

Impressive. Learnt a lot. Love your resources. Love the map. Excellent. I’m grateful to have been part of the course. I will definitely implement 90% of it when I teach one day.

I am grateful for this opportunity. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I hope to use the information that I have received to the best of my ability. I plan to use this to help disadvantaged communities that I encounter. God bless.

Loved the course; the enthusiasm of Alan made the content fun and interesting. Keep up the good work.

Very enthusiastic. Fun to listen to! THRASS makes a great deal of sense and should be implemented in all schools.

This course was excellent, and I really appreciated the opportunity to attend this course. I will definitely want to teach this THRASS one day. Alan Davies you are excellent.

THRASS has really impressed me and makes me excited to teach phonics. The presentation was very enjoyable and I feel very lucky to be a part of this. GREAT.

A great and relevant course! As a student, I am very excited to go out and implement the THRASS program into my class.

I thoroughly enjoyed this course. It was great to be exposed and experience a new way to teaching literacy. Your enthusiasm and passion for THRASS was great.

I really learned a lot and it has made me very eager to learn more. Great presentation.

It is absolutely amazing that you are still facilitating the training yourself. Thank you for all I have learnt. The programme is so logical, especially since it can be used in diverse learning and teaching contexts. All the best for the future.

Great course. Should be initiated and implemented into all schools for the foundation phase.

I’m now ready for a career change!

Thank you Alan. You and your course are fantastic.

THRASS a fundamental “MUST” in educating our children in or about the English language. Fantastic.

I have gained insight into the teaching of Analytical Phonics. Confirmed that teaching of letters and sounds is very limited. Very informative and comprehensive two days training course. Alan is very passionate and enthusiastic about the THRASS model.
