Outstanding – so many concepts were clarified with clear, simple and animated explanations. Was great to be able to ask any question at all, knowing that it would be valued, explained and answered thoroughly by Hilary. The style of delivery was fantastic – lots of animated stories and examples, use of humour, and very little use of ‘wordy’ handouts. I can’t wait to get started!

Fantastic two days! All of the training was relevant, informative and directly applicable to my class. Hilary was incredibly enthusiastic and answered all of our awkward questions in full, without fobbing us off! We all really enjoyed ourselves and learnt lots in a relaxed, fun atmosphere. I wish more courses were this well delivered!

Very useful, it was very beneficial that it related to younger children as well – for a change. I could see where it leads to. There were many games and activities suggested to help in all areas of learning not just literacy. Excellent resources available.

The enthusiasm of Hilary came across well and made the 2 days very interesting. I can see how knowing all the graphemes will help the children with spelling, however, I feel that in Reception and Year 1 and depending on the children’s ability, the sounds (phonemes/graphemes) may need to be hand picked, as will activities – some great activity ideas were showed – can’t wait to use them.

Full of information and ideas. The games were fun. Very interesting and useful, I think it will be fun for the children, as well as a great learning tool. Very helpful to me to use in my daily routine.

Informative and fun. The English language is a difficult language for children to learn. I found that analysing phonemes/graphemes has helped me understand our complex language! The delivery was clear and easy to listen to.

Excellent presenter, very clear instruction. Enjoyed it very much, learnt a great deal. Second time I have attended the 2 day tutorial – but it is a lot to take in and it became much clearer this time.

Well thought out phonic scheme. Well presented hearing it for the second time made it even clearer.

The course is quite beneficial to me. It has confirmed most of my suspicions of the probable causes of spelling errors. It is quite intensive and I suggest a longer duration.

Had some previous knowledge, but to attend a taught 2 day training with my colleague was so useful. Looking at the graphemechart, revising key words, phonemes and exercises to use with pupils, sequences and using the rap sequences were fun and a good learning tool. Bouncing off and analysing different words with my colleague was helpful to solidify learning. A thorough well explained fun two days.

Very intense! Lots of good ideas, interesting information. Useful resources, very well presented and we were very well looked after by the host school.

Have thoroughly enjoyed the course, have learnt an awful lot about the English Language! Feel there is a lot I can pass onto particular children in school and also take home to my own children.

Clearly presented and with good clear definitions specifically needed for teaching ideas relating to phonemes and graphemes. Actions for immediate use of this scheme is possible and I think the children and teachers will thoroughly enjoy using THRASS.

Fantastic course. Very in depth and given a lot of food for thought. Resources are clear, well designed and very well thought out.
