GUIDED TRAINING FOR TEACHERS, ASSISTANTS AND PARENTS

THRASS TWO-DAY CERTIFICATE,
DAY 2, DEVON,  NOV 27, 2009

Portable Document Format

Really enjoyed the extension – new words and concepts. Great reminder of previous activities and introduction of new ones. Makes the teacher fresher. Intensive, enthusiastic and inspiring. The new Keygrapheme Time software – I can hardly wait!

Excellent – enjoyable, fun, interesting and very valuable. Informative – it will most certainly enhance my teaching.

Informative, fast paced course from an enthusiastic teacher whose passion for THRASS rubs off on those who attend. Has consolidated my existing knowledge and provided me with more resources to use with the children I teach.

Excellent. Content and delivery style gives many ideas for teaching strategies. Wish all teachers had to be made aware of THRASS and its power (especially English teachers). Feel much more confident in the use of the programme with the pupils I teach.

Valuable and interesting – course perhaps should have been closer together. Well presented. A good insight into how we speak and pronounce vocabulary.

Enjoyable and interesting. Everything clearly explained. Would have liked Day 1 and 2 closer.

I survived. Hooray! It was an interesting and thorough introduction to the concept of THRASS. I found a six-month gap between the two days, too long a period to refine your THRASS skills.

A lot to learn in a short time, but very informative. Very useful in my day to day work.

The THRASS course definitely contains some valuable ideas. I have learnt that it is important to praise grapheme and phoneme choices as well as the best ways to correct these choices.

Well presented. Very informative.

Very informative, enjoyed the two days, practical and theory!

Interesting and fun for the children to learn this way. Would like refresher course in 12 months.

Interesting second day – would have liked the two days closer together.

Useful and thought-provoking. Some very interesting points, in particular the separation of vowel and consonant sounds was very useful. However, the tone in which the course was taught could be improved so as to be more suitable for adults.

Wouldn’t it be useful if everyone used this in every school. This makes so much sense. Brilliant, usable resources. Two days training isn’t enough to feel totally confident about delivering it in its entirety. Would have preferred to have had the two days closer together.

Useful and lively, but course should be run over two consecutive days.

I have enjoyed the course. I found the second day more difficult but I think we concentrated on “linking themes” and how we say these, such as monopthong, so by the end I was able to understand important issues, particularly correct articulation. I enjoyed learning more about vowel and consonant phonemes. This is going to be very helpful both for personal and professional use.

Very informative. Would have been better if more interactive activities and examples. I actually taught myself to read along these guidelines anyway – back in the seventies – very interesting. Also, feel that anyone who was not quite confident with it, wasn’t getting the chances, due to others being very confident.

In the class game, I would have preferred to try and work things out before others shouted out the answers. More practice and feedback would be helpful. All a bit rushed and will try and practice.

Interesting – packed full of information. Personally, I felt it was too much to take in over the time period. It would have been better if the two days were held over the course of a month.

Very interesting, makes a lot of sense. Will definitely be implementing this program.

Very interesting and I am going to try this with my speech and language groups.

Very good. Very interesting and makes a lot of sense. Lots of good information. Would have benefited from having the two days closer together.

I have learnt a lot to feed back to our Year 3 teachers who have started the new intake on the THRASS 15 Minutes a Day. I was especially impressed with Alan’s delivery of how to involve a whole class. I used games learnt from Day 1 with a class of 30+ and realised how powerful these can be and saw all eyes on me and children engaged, using the picturecharts effectively. I now have more ways of using the resources we have and feel very positive about whole class teaching, having worked mostly with small groups or 1 to 1.
