Brilliant. Our school  has taught THRASS for about 7 years and after being on the course it makes a great deal of sense, particularly the unstressed vowels. The games, resources and ideas have really filled me with enthusiasm. I will go back and try everything with my class. Hilary was fab as well! 

A brilliant course which I very much enjoyed. Everything was shown and explained in an easy way, therefore now have a good understanding of THRASS. The games are great, charts are really teacher- and pupil-friendly and the Scheme of Work will make it easy to teach throughout the school. Also the Phoneme Machine is fantastic. Can’t wait to show it to the other staff and use it! 

Excellent - this will really help me to show struggling readers how to split words into phonemes. 

Have thoroughly enjoyed my two days learning about THRASS. It has proved to be informative and will now allow me to use my new-found knowledge both in class and for staff INSET. 

The two days were scintillating. Already THRASS is embedded into our school practice – now I feel empowered. We were anxious about using THRASS with the Year 6 pupils – now we can’t wait. We’re ready for action after two fabulous, enthusiastic days! Diolch Hilary. 

An enjoyable, informative course, led by an enthusiastic tutor. Even though I have used THRASS for several years, this course has helped me enormously. 

A thoroughly enjoyable course. Very informative and well-structured. I had been on a one-day course many years ago and it was very good to see new materials that can be used and developed with older children. Thoroughly enthused by the last two days! 

Very useful and enjoyable. I have lots of THRASS resources in the classroom and now I finally know how to use them. Can’t wait to get started. My class will enjoy all the games, songs and activities. 

Fantastic – we are using THRASS as a school, but the course has made things clear to me. It is important for me to be able to break up (analyse) the words in order to teach them correctly. I also like to know all the terminology to describe different words. It is also good to get lots of activity ideas for different age groups and abilities. 

Excellent for providing ideas for interactive games to make spelling fun. I will use what I have learnt within the classroom. 

This course has a given me ways of helping my student, who is blind, to understand phonics and how it works. Excellent, very informative. 

Enjoyed course, time went very quickly. 

I really enjoyed the two days. It’s all making much more sense now. This is going to make a difference to the pupils’ reading and spelling particularly. 

I enjoyed the course very much. The two-day course clarified points I had confused when attending one-day course. The information I obtained will inform strategic planning for LDD children.

Very upbeat and enthusiastic presentation of THRASS. Gained a lot of knowledge and learning resources to support me with my learners. 

A useful and valuable two days! I had previously done two shorter sessions, but wanted to renew my knowledge and skills before reviewing our phonic Scheme of Work. I will need to create a new whole-school approach and present INSET – this course has been invaluable in helping me with this.

Very lively. Enjoyed games. Teaching tips very applicable. Would like more time spent on activities for upper KS2. Help with planning and lesson structure is needed. Two days a bit too intense! 

Very enjoyable course, executed and presented very well. Needs to be taught from early on to work well in comprehensive. Give them the tools at an early age and it should carry them through to have good skills in comprehensive. 

Empowering and useful course. Excellent to see THRASS demonstrated in action; but needs structured teaching time to make full, effective learning of THRASS in our school.

Hilary was a very good course leader. Her attitudes to THRASS shone through and really did promote THRASS in a positive way. I feel at times the course itself could have been more interactive, what with the subject itself and with other people attending the course.  

As an NQT, I found this course very informative and beneficial. It has provided me with excellent multi-sensory activities and ideas which I hope to implement straight away with my class. The involvement of the audience has also instilled confidence and self-belief in my own phonics knowledge and teaching skills. I think the two days are very beneficial as it provided more time to consolidate the ideas, material and strategies discussed. I would highly recommend the course! 

Hilary was extremely friendly, approachable and engaging. Her enthusiasm for THRASS was obvious. Felt the course had a personal touch, as her husband created THRASS. The resources were great and it was a positive that we could take so many of them away with us. The activities were relevant and engaging, but felt there could have been more of them. Also, I would have liked the opportunity to talk to other professionals about their experience of using THRASS, share ideas, etc.  

Once again, a very thorough and valuable course. Hilary was extremely knowledgeable and an enthusiastic deliverer of information. Thank you for empowering us with the tools to assist our children with their reading, handwriting and spelling skills.

An absolutely fascinating course which will most definitely aid me in the delivery of THRASS with my class. It has been refreshing to attend a course with such an energetic, enthusiastic provider.
