GUIDED TRAINING FOR TEACHERS, ASSISTANTS AND PARENTS

THRASS TWO-DAY CERTIFICATE,
BIRMINGHAM,  NOV 6-7, 2007

Portable Document Format

A very fast moving, interactive and informative course. Clearly explained with lots of practical demonstrations, and ideas to use with the children. Fantastic.

Fantastic! This for me, is so simply a wonderful way of teaching. I can use all that you have taught me in these last two days in so many ways. I work mostly with small groups of children or one to one. We don’t use THRASS in school at the moment, but after this how can we manage without it!

A fantastic course delivered by Hilary who is a very passionate and enthusiastic lady. The fact that she believes in the product really comes across in her delivery. A really exciting product which I am looking forward to using and feel that I have understood it well over the course of the two days. The best phonics programme I have encountered yet and I will recommend this to colleagues and friends in the teaching profession. Thank you for all your help and ideas.

Superb – lots to think about and to go away and put into practice. Amazed you kept the pace so fast and delivered the course with such enthusiasm and vigour.

I feel a lot more confident about using THRASS. It gave a lot of ideas and made it easier to understand. Two very interesting days.

I now understand a lot more about using and teaching THRASS to children, the games will be very useful and enjoyable.

Very interesting and made me have a better understanding of THRASS. Hilary covered everything possible with the two days, but the second day was more intense and could have gone into a three-day course. Overall I have a better knowledge and understanding of THRASS.

Very informative if a little overwhelming. I now have a much better overall picture of what THRASS is all about.

Good and informative. A bit too auditory orientated. Lots of information (too much to take it all in).

Excellent delivery with very informative and clear explanations of stages. Found the ideas for various activities and assessment ideas very useful, prompting more ideas which can be taken back to the classroom. Very active course! Enjoyed it thoroughly.

Could see it working with KS1/KS2. Would have to see where it would come in for Foundation.

The course delivery was appropriately paced and enthusiastic. It was very useful that advice was given for working with different ages and abilities of pupils. The most valuable parts of the course were the clear, practical advice for lesson delivery and games and the demonstration of resources. A fantastic course. It was delivered really well and gave us lots of ideas.

Really helpful two days. Well explained with lots of ideas for me to take back and try out.

Extremely informative and has equipped me with the knowledge, skills and confidence to deliver THRASS regularly to my class. Everything was covered in depth but at a good pace. We were given lots of practical ideas to use in the classroom across all age ranges. An excellent worthwhile course that has inspired me to start THRASS straight away.

Enjoyable and feel much more confident with THRASS. I shall enjoy experimenting back at school.

Very useful resources and examples of how to use them. The wall charts and groups of phonemes make perfect sense to me, will be able to use them easily.

I have really enjoyed the course. It has been very informative and I feel confident that we will be buying in THRASS for my school.

As an NQT it has been fantastic to attend a course which has further aided my understanding of THRASS. It really is an enjoyable and worthy course and programme.
I did the one day course which just gave an overview, but this one was a lot more informative with lots of useful ideas which I could use with my S.E.N. and E.A.L.

Enjoyed the course very much. We had THRASS at our school before but it helped clarify things this time more clearly.

Really good. I taught Jolly Phonics in Reception two years ago and had lots of problems with letter names. Now have lots of ideas for my Y6 – will also test to see where they are up to and then the fun will begin.

Learnt a lot from Day 1, understood the reasons and different way to introduce THRASS to children for different ages and abilities. Excellent resources, wondering how to incorporate it every day though. Day 2 – felt demonstration on ICT interactive whiteboard was good. Would have enjoyed time to have used whiteboard or computer to become familiar and have questions answered.

Began to make sense of the whole at the end of second day. Would it be worth brief mention of what the T10 expectations are before beginning? Do we know where we are heading? Second day was more interactive, therefore easier to maintain concentration. Overall, very enthusiastic and ultimately inspiring session – think I might be a convert if not a zealot!

Clear delivery of THRASS stages and how stages are linked. Games/activities clearly explained. Lots of information but perhaps two days need to be taught separately. Bit of an information overdrive. Would also provide opportunity to try out some of the key ideas/games.

Very useful – well explained. I now have a much better idea of what to do when working with older children and can see how it will help those older children who are still struggling.

Well explained – very clear and concise.

A great insight. Helped clear up so many questions concerning THRASS. Great stock of resources. I am sure will be used many times.

As a parent I found the course informative, interesting and enjoyable. I can’t wait to get home and start! The course was fantastically presented and the enthusiasm was most definitely contagious.

Very good delivery of THRASS. Lots of information and ideas for playing games with the children, using letters/music etc. Perhaps the programme could be taught over 2 or 3 days, with a break of a few weeks in-between to allow for information to assimilate fully, and teachers practise. Have felt pens to write on grapheme chart.

Very useful ideas given – lots to take in and try out in school.

A very informative two days.

The course was helpful and useful, particularly the ideas for games and for how to use THRASS with older children.

Thoroughly enjoyed the two days! I look forward to bringing THRASS back to the classroom.

Very thorough, clear, understandable. A lot to take in. Pleasurable two days.

Very informative and useful with lots of ideas, both for mainstream children, and for special needs.

Very good and detailed. Led by very enthusiastic Hilary. Only think I’d like added – a brief clip of it being used in a classroom.

Course was very interesting and extremely useful. Hilary was so enthusiastic about THRASS.

It has been a very interesting two days. Lots to think about and learn. Games were clearly explained and fun to play. Can’t wait to get started
