GUIDED TRAINING FOR TEACHERS, ASSISTANTS AND PARENTS

THRASS TWO-DAY CERTIFICATE,
GTG, SOUTH AFRICA, MAY 18-19, 2007

Portable Document Format

I thoroughly enjoyed the course and found it absolutely fascinating! The course is extremely comprehensive and I learnt so much in such a short space of time. I believe this is just the beginning of an amazing journey forwards. Thank you for all your time, effort, enthusiasm and positive energy Laola. Your passion and love for teaching and sharing knowledge is really commendable. I will keep in touch.

Loved it! Laola was amazing – beautiful diction and she was fun, practical and so appealing. We start on Monday! Have been warned to see worksheets galore for little ones – this proves that children need to work it out not be given a list! Thank you for your input for two days – so good at our age to be extended.

Very interesting! Expands previous phonetic systems. Well thought out. Gives children options. I look forward to using the THRASS system.

A very good course. Well structured, with good time slots. I found the last hour of the last day difficult, but simply because of information overload. Very impressed with the training and explanation of things we were unsure of. I think it is a super programme, but I feel I need more help on how to start implementing it. (teaching Gr. 2). Although once I have read through the guides, I am sure it will become clear. Thanks so much Laola, you were so patient with me.

Really, really enjoyed it. Very excited to start teaching and using THRASS. I think there is lots of information to digest and also think it will take a while to sink in. I am positive about everything. Laola gave a very structured and informative course and was able to answer all our questions.

THRASS is a very interesting course and there is a lot of potential in our school now that we are trained. Laola was a very passionate speaker, which kept my interest and enthusiasm about THRASS.

The course was well presented and prepared. Visual material is stimulating and appealing. I think that we have still got a lot to learn as we start to use the methodology in the classroom but I am very excited to begin and look forward to discovering more about it. Laola is obviously passionate about what she does and passes this on effectively to her delegates. Well done and thank you.

Course was very interesting. Initially, quite overwhelming. Well presented, most passionately carried out. It made a lot of sense. Am sure it could be implemented quite successfully.

Very interesting and informative. Lots of information to absorb in a limited amount of time. Will be interested to see how programme works in the classroom. Thank you for a well presented presentation.

Interesting, informative and learnt a huge amount. Hope I can successfully use THRASS in the classroom – and looking forward to trying.

Very worthwhile, thought provoking and certainly provides a new and enlightening perspective on teaching reading and spelling. The course covered all the aspects – now it’s time to go and put it into practice (an exciting challenge).

Content of course very valuable. It formalised a lot of prior knowledge. Course Co-ordinator may have been a little condescending and spent a little too much time giving additional examples and personal information, thus taking time away from valuable question time.

An interesting and exciting methodology. The presentation was vibrant and compelling and I thoroughly enjoyed the two days.

Very informative and detailed. I enjoyed the suggestions for all the practical applications and I was pleased to see how the program incorporates the development of so many skills important for general language development and not only reading and spelling skills.

Interesting and well presented. This method is certainly logical and embraces the English language in a far more holistic way in terms of phonics and graphics than the Letterland method. I feel it has good potential to improve reading and spelling skills and look forward to seeing positive results in our school.

Thank you very much for your time, wisdom, knowledge and input. I learnt a lot and much was made clear to me. Obviously a lot of time and work and research has gone into this brilliant approach. This is a wonderful holistic approach to teaching THRASS.

We learned a lot about our language – I love playing with language, as it was great for me. Laola is efficient, well organised, experienced and passionate.

Well presented. Good pace. Stuck to times indicated accurately. Good use of THRASS resources in training. Facilitator had thorough knowledge of content. More time could be spent on dissecting sounds especially the more complicated ones. Was sceptical about the programme initially, but am feeling more enlightened. I feel it could be daunting to young children - guess only time will tell how they manage.

The course was well presented. Laola is articulate and extremely well informed. I was not happy about our school adopting the THRASS programme, but after the course I feel more positive and excited.

A well presented course. I learnt a great deal. Very intensive course.

THRASS makes the most sense of any literacy scheme especially regarding teaching phonics, that I have ever come across. Thank you for the course which used a multi-media approach. It was really interesting.

Laola was dynamic, interesting – so knowledgeable and beautifully spoken. Thank you so much! I found the course stimulating. It makes so much sense.
