GUIDED TRAINING FOR TEACHERS, ASSISTANTS AND PARENTS

THRASS SYNTHETIC PHONICS WORKSHOP,
IBADAN, NIGERIA, MAY 7, 2009

Portable Document Format

A big high five to the THRASS program. Very encouraging and the school enrolment keeps increasing because of the songs. A good thing has come to Nigeria. Keep it up!

Excellent and educative. I can boldly say that my articulation is better. THRASS has made English pronunciation easier through songs, flash cards and charts. It is a lovely programme.

Very interesting and informative. It is truly English phonics made easy and enjoyable. Very interesting and very stimulating. Alan Davies was great and the programme worthwhile. It will expose Nigerian children to a better way of reading with fun – and turn them into effective and voluntary readers. An eye opener. It makes the teaching and learning of English an easy task.

Very useful reinforcement of the first workshop, making the programme more familiar and easier. The workshop was, once again, very enriching and inspiring.

Well organised and well delivered. The Government should try to embrace the THRASS programme and extend it to all schools in the state. For the programme to be more successful, the Government should provide electric generators, TVs and try to retrain the participants from time to time.

This follow-up was more detailed - touching on the core of the teaching. It triggers the flow of teaching ideas in the teacher, and it adds more fun to learning for the pupils. With Mr Alan Davies and his team, there is never a dull moment!

Very illuminating and interesting. It exposes one to the ‘play-way’ method that could be used to teach and learn without being tired.

Very interesting. It is very informative, pupils will find it easy to cope with reading, writing and spelling skills. It is very stimulating and worthwhile programme. It paves the way for the teaching and learning of English in an easy way. I am very happy to have been one of the delegates chosen. I am much impressed. By using this method the standard of the pupils will be much improved.

THRASS is very interesting and it help the pupils to read and speak easily. Even we teachers and head teachers enjoy and achieved many things in THRASS. Written and spoken English in schools would greatly improve. I was highly impressed. Alan Davies is a good teacher.  Thank you so much.

Very interesting and we really enjoy the course and we really gain. It improves our spoken English and the pronunciation also. I wish the course should be continued. We thank the body that brought THRASS to Nigeria for the benefit of our children.

Organised with great effective teaching. It teach us to improve our pronunciation of English words and it help us to develop essential reading and spelling skills. The various materials were presented to us to let the teaching be more clear to us. God be with the organiser of the programme.

Highly impressive because it reviews the previous training received. It also enables us to know the areas of our weaknesses for correction. It gives us more light on how to improve in delivering the lessons in the class, particularly on THRASS. I really appreciate the role played by Mr Alan Davies.

It has helped reinforce knowledge about the method of teaching and working with THRASS; plus, correct errors in the practice of the programme in the last few months.

The workshop is to teach the participants on how to teach English effectively in primary schools, in particular the beginners. THRASS was organised for effective teaching of handwriting, reading and spelling skills. This will enable the learners to know the exact pronunciation for English words.

Educative. It will enhance the knowledge of the pupils. It will arouse the interest of the pupils with the materials used that make the learning practical and easier. Pupils will love to attend school instead of absenting themselves. Government should support this programme because the standard of pupils will be improved in oral and written English.

Very educative, interesting and informative. It has really thrown light on my understanding of phonics and affords me the opportunity of having a practical experience of it.

Very interesting and educative. More people should get to know about it. Mr Alan is doing a great job and I think if it is well implemented in our schools it is going to bring about a whole lot of changes in the children’s spelling and spoken English and also help them to write better. Big thank you to Mr Alan and the THRASS company. Not forgetting Mr Mike as well, he is doing a great job with the filming.

The facilitator explained the teaching of THRASS in primary schools. It also aid effective pronunciation of English words. It will also help the pupils to develop essential reading and spelling skills. THRASS will also enable the learners to learn the sixty consonant keywords and 60 vowel keywords.

The workshop help us to know we all made mistakes and the instructor correct some of our mistakes by re-teaching us. Now we will be up and doing the project to our best.

A successful workshop. The facilitator reminded us of our previous training. He also teaches us on how to improve on the teaching of THRASS at our various schools. He told us that the teacher should enable the learner to take an active part by participating actively during the lessons. The workshop is interesting and stimulating. I wish the programme should be extended to all schools in the state because it will improve academic performance of the pupils.
