GUIDED TRAINING FOR TEACHERS, ASSISTANTS AND PARENTS

THRASS ACCREDITED CERTIFICATE, EASTERN CAPE, SA, MAY 26-27, 2006

Portable Document Format

One of the best if not the best programme/methodology to teach spelling and reading. It does make so much sense to me (a second language English teacher) since I could never find the ‘phonic sense’ in the English language. I am very excited to go home and implement this. The inspirational presentation enhanced the insight in the process and concept. This is the most exciting programme I have experienced in a long, long time. Thanks very much.

I have been teaching for 25 years and this course – THRASS – has been the most stimulating and exciting course I have ever attended. Although I am retiring at the end of this year. I certainly hope to take this wonderful methodology into the townships around East London in the future. Although Laola had bronchitis, she was amazing – so enthusiastic, vibrant and really brilliant. We all went away so excited, brimming with enthusiasm and rearing to go for THRASS. Thank you. Laola, you really went the extra mile for us.

Presentation: Visual, auditory & kinaesthetic learning was all catered for with media, charts, tapes (CD) etc. Kept my interest at all times. Presenter very competent on all media.
Presenter: Very knowledgeable, generous in sharing, enthusiastic and committed to the product. Reference to own experiences in schools allowed a practical, realistic picture in my understanding of the approach. Very inspirational, positive approach.
Tips and advice: Practical ideas for fundraising very much appreciated, as money and budgeting usually the issue when changing or introducing new approaches into schools.
Thank you for the worthwhile presentation. Time was well utilised. Every question was clearly answered. Assistance most forthcoming. An absolute privilege to have met and been addressed by an Educator with so much knowledge, passion and experience. May I wish you Godspeed in the way forward.

This has been the most informative course. I have learned so much over the past few days and feel more empowered to teach reading and spelling to the pupils who come to me with reading and spelling difficulties. I also feel more equipped to help my 2nd language pupils with their reading and spelling in English. It was brilliant to come across an approach where we can incorporate the visual/auditory/kinaesthetic approach so that all learning styles can be accommodated in the learning process. Well done on an excellent approach You have thought of everything a teacher needs to equip them in the classroom.

This has been a most amazing and informative course. I cannot wait to get started and see the results that we will witness in our school. I am sorry that after 30+ years of teaching, this is only becoming part of my work and ‘me’ now. What a wonderful teacher I could have been and what knowledge I could have shared with the learners. God Bless and thank you so much.

Bubbly, friendly and knowledgeable facilitator. Small course group a good idea. THRASS – AMAZING programme! Pity so few teachers know about it.

Something I felt I could really get my teeth stuck into it! I teach remedial, second language and illiterate domestics. Also have a number of special class children with “nowhere to go” as special classes have been away with. Am very keen to give it a go. Well presented by a very enthusiastic presenter who really believes in her product. Feel a bit overwhelmed by all the information, but know we must take it slowly, step by step. We are all so enthusiastic about the course, so will have a great support group at our school. Feel as if I have a new lease on life. Thanks so much. Looking forward to giving you feedback on progress.

The course was very beneficial. I really feel that THRASS is excellent. It was presented in a way in which we could thoroughly understand how to use it in our classrooms. The presenter was clear and answered all our questions. I am excited and motivated to use THRASS.

The course was extremely well presented. For me, the biggest value is that there is no limit to what I may teach. If a child is bright & ready, he/she may go with it. I found the methodology empowering and can see how it will only gtrow. I wish it was around when I grew up as an immigrant child from Germany. Thanks for everything and go well.

Very well-presented, informative course. Laola’s vibrant personality and knowledge made the course exciting and stimulating. I am sure that THRASS is the way to go in the Partial Hearing Department at our school. I am motivated again! This course has been an inspiration and has taught me so much. Wow! Thank you for the wonderful material and relevance.

What an exceptional course. A pity I didn’t know about THRASS years ago. Laola was inspirational and shared so many ideas with us. I am very excited and can’t wait to implement it in as many ways as possible. This methodology is exciting and inspirational for all teachers.

Very well presented and explained. Excellent resources which help substantiate teaching methods. Very good thinking behind the methodology – all makes logical sense. Wide range of resources used in presentation, making it all very interesting. Thoroughly enjoyed it and learnt a lot!

Thank you for the most comprehensive course. The way the whole English Language has been covered, as far as words and spelling are concerned, is amazing! The course materials are a beautiful quality and Laola’s presentation is logical, clear and extremely interesting.

Arrived at the THRASS course, not sure of what I was going to learn and whether I was wasting my time, as all the other teachers were foundation phase and I teach Grade 4. All fears were put aside after the first afternoon. Exciting, absolutely logical approach to teaching spelling and reading. Can’t wait to inform teachers at my school and hopefully encourage the teachers at the Prep School to attend THRASS training. Thank you. Wow, can’t wait to start!
