GUIDED TRAINING FOR TEACHERS, ASSISTANTS AND PARENTS

THRASS ONE-DAY FOUNDATION,
NORTH YORKSHIRE, MARCH 20, 2008

Portable Document Format

Excellent course, very inspiring, your enthusiasm is catching.

Very good. Course should be given to all before teaching. Excellent motivation.

An excellent day – super presentation to keep our interest. I particularly liked the visual elements of the scheme. Congratulations for all your pioneering work to help children’s reading and spelling.

Fantastic. Really gets you motivated. Can’t wait to put it into action.

Very good content & presentation. Excellent resources and teaching guides. Want to start tomorrow!

Stimulating, energetic and enthusiastic! I’m inspired to pass on what I’ve learned to children & colleagues.

Very enjoyable, informative, well presented, hope our school takes it on board!

Finally something that makes sense and for lifelong! A great course and very inspiring. Will definitely adopt what I can even if the school doesn’t.

A very good day. You’ve been interesting, enthusiastic and talked a lot of sense.

Sounds great! When do we start? Very informative day. Needs to be taken on whole school for benefits of scheme to be realised so pupils can support each other.

Very useful, everything sounds very useful, consistency is key!

Overall good. Would have liked more interaction.

Informative, enjoyed interaction.

THRASS certainly makes sense and the resources are fantastic. Today’s course was useful – although (as probably needed to be) a lot of information at once! I’m looking forward to trying it out with my class. (I think they’ll love the songs!).

Excellent presentation. Even though I have done this course before I still picked up lots of new teaching points.

Very informative, a little hard going/fast at times but great starting point – want to see/hear more. Want to learn those raps and songs!

Informative, enjoyable, need more time to understand all elements.

Fabulous – good level of overview, detail and energy. Would love it if school could fund day two.

Helpful to know what SEN children are being taught. We may be using details more across the class. Would have liked more on what/where to introduce to higher level.

Excellent course, very enthusiastically delivered. Will help me implement this with children at work and in my home life. Unfortunately, not sure my school will fund the 2nd day but would love to do it.

Interactive. Good examples between theory and essential information required and practical training methods that can be utilised with the scheme. Super introduction to a scheme. There is obviously a lot to cover to get started. Great introduction to spelling and reading.

Very informative, however there was a lot of information to take in on one day. I can see how I would use these skills in the classroom. I now need to go away and digest all this information and have a read.

Very informative though felt a lot to take in. Can see how it would work well in our setting.

I have completed the two day course, so it was great to have a refresher!

Good information with plenty of focus regarding the teaching of the scheme.

Have already attended the two day couse, so refresher for me today. The only change I would make is to introduce the SING-A-LONG CD/Book later in the day when people are familiar with the picturechart. Great refresher!

A good introduction to THRASS. Looking forward to using it with KS2, will need more information for KS3. Well presented.

Very entertaining, but would appreciate more examples of how to use THRASS with KS3 children.

Good, informative course. Expanded my knowledge of THRASS. Welcoming school.

Good day. Very fast. I enjoyed the course very much, I will continue to use THRASS with my groups/children as much as possible.

I got a grip of the basic principles but too much to take in in one day.

Basic idea was good as I can see how the system would work. Much of the information was useful but the course was occasionally repetitive and the day generally was very hard going and intense.

Really good approach to teaching phonics – love the resources that we were allowed to keep! Very enthusiastic course leader with lots of good ideas. Do think that we could have been up, out of our chairs a bit more – a bit more interactive?

Really enjoyed the presentation of the course – actually doing it ourselves! Practical resources – easy to follow (and hopefully use!) Enjoyed watching the video clips. Fun and entertaining!

Very useful course, good practical advice to use in the classroom. A lot to take in in one day.

Intensive, inspirational. A very worthwhile training day.

A brilliant way of teaching children to read & spell, a very inspirational course.

Very fast paced – would be good to do 2-day course! Very intensive, loads of information. Loads of resources suited to different levels/ages. Especially liked the songs using different music styles (would suit children in my class!). Enthusiastic tutor! That’s what you need to get motivated!

A very informative day. It was good to recap on previous training and I am looking forward to taking SING-A-LONG even further! A good day.

Had a really good day, began to really come together for me. I think the new SING-A-LONG is fantastic, looking forward to doing more of it!

Lots of practical ideas & resources.

Great experience, makes sense.

Very enjoyable and informative!

Excellent – loads of useful information. Quite an intensive day and I am looking forward to putting some of the advice into action. The THRASS chart is a fantastic resource and really makes sense.

Very interactive, especially visual link & picturechart. Will try idea of spelling log. Still not sure about profilecard sheet.

Great introduction to the THRASS system. Lots of practical ideas – good use and demonstration of resources. Really makes you want to get started – to implement this in school with the children.

Fun teaching style with CDs etc. A great deal of information to take in, but interesting and useful.

Superb. Energetic. Enthusiastic. Makes a lot of sense. Good resources. Involving, progressive. Enjoyed it. Very knowledgeable leader. Makes a lot of sense. Fun. Inspiring. I’ve got the NAK!

Good – lots of food for thought. Problem will be persuading others to take on board.

Brilliant, enjoyable day.

An excellent course – Thank you!

Energetic, fun, but can I remember it all?

Worthwhile and fun, easy to understand and helped me to compartmentalise what I should be teaching and when! A great training course.

Interesting and full day. Would think about implementing in school, although will have to discuss with KS 1 colleague.

Found it very interesting, will discuss it back at school.

Very inspiring. Lots of great ideas to use with the children and have fun! Can’t wait to get going. Thank you – it will be great to give confidence to “weak” spellers!

Enjoyed the day greatly. Filled in a lot of gaps not understood on other courses. As a school, felt encouraged to begin this way of learning.

Today has been a very informative day. It has helped me to clarify ideas which had been reported back by other members of staff who had been on the course previously. I can’t wait to try some of the ideas with my class and also my own children at home.

Very informative day. It now has clarified lots of queries.

On the whole, useful and informative with good resources given. Slightly repetitive and unorganised as jumps from one area to another without fully explaining.

Enthusiastic presentation. Very useful ideas – well structured.

Lively, ‘action-packed’ course with much information shared. Really think this will transform the teaching of reading & spelling with the KS3 & 4 students with severe learning disabilities I teach. Alan’s enthusiasm is infectious. I can’t wait to get back to school to put THRASS into practice.

Useful reinforcement of 1 letter does not equal 1 sound. I like the range of resources, the multi-sensory focus of the programme. Particularly like the Phoneme Machine, SING-A-LONG, and handwriting software. Very enthusiastic presenter.

An excellent day. My interest was maintained throughout your presentation because of your dynamic delivery. I think it is a very well-designed scheme which gives hope to those children who are currently missing out on essential skills.

My brain is a buzz with all I have learnt today! Fantastic, action-packed training with loads of ideas that can be applied to everyday, good quality teaching for deaf and hearing impaired pupils. Thank you so much. I don’t think you are rude and arrogant, just very enthusiastic about a great system!

Fast moving, energetic course with heaps of information, tips and suggestions. Infectious enthusiasm.
