GUIDED TRAINING FOR TEACHERS, ASSISTANTS AND PARENTS

THRASS TWO-DAY CERTIFICATE,
GTG, SOUTH AFRICA, MARCH 3-4, 2008

Portable Document Format

Very good. I think educators who are teaching languages should attend this workshop.

So fruitful. I’ve learnt to tune my pronunciation to standardised English. The different stages of introducing letter names, picture location where the learner can firstly be introduced to them; the importance of letter formation and location so that it would be easy for them for sequential reading and at the end of it all the assessment was clearly presented. Worksheets will be useful.

Well-presented with important aspects of teaching sounds, spelling, writing and word identification using pictures effectively presented; active participation by educators made lessons easy to follow.

Very informative and eye-opening; but the time of the workshop was not enough. There was too much information which needed to be given to the participants in a very short space of time. I enjoyed the workshop and it will help me a lot when I am advising teachers and learners at schools.

Very interesting. There was a lot to learn and a lot of enlightenment. Time was too limited. The facilitator was excellent. She managed to reach all of us. Engaging participants was very helpful, especially the alphabet singing part. It’s an excellent method for teaching learners. The material is user-friendly. All in all we enjoyed it very much; wish we could have had more time.

Very fruitful. Clearly explained, but there are problems with pronunciation with regard to vowel sounds. It will be more relevant to be taught in mainstream rather than remedial classes.

Well-prepared presentation. All areas were covered. We were empowered and capacitated on phonemes and graphemes. The correct method on sounding phonics.

It was a very interesting and informative course. The facilitator was clear and knows THRASS very well. She explains clearly and we could easily follow whatever she tried to explain. THRASS answered many questions which I didn’t have answers to for many years e.g. spelling rules. I can now explain bravely to other educators and learners with ease. What impressed me most is the material used by THRASS. Very clear and easy. Conducive to use.

Very informative and empowering. Learned many techniques to teach second language speakers to read and spell. Acquired interesting language of THRASS, which we were never taught at college. Please increase sessions from two days to about five!

An excellent workshop. Very applicable to the target group.

The workshop was successful, but enough time is needed for educators, too.

Relevant to what we do as learner support educators, as we encounter a lot of problems at schools. All the steps will definitely help us. Material was good. Facilitator was well informed, explained everything in the best way possible; she was good, active and has a good sense of humour.

Thanks for the standardised English programme. I think it will help with understanding of the teaching of English. Because we’ve tried all the programmes and at the end, learners are confused, teachers are confused, education system is confused.

Very informative; I enjoyed it. I learnt a lot of things that I was not sure of, especially with phonics. I think the duration of the course was very limited, we need five days!

Thank you! Great programme. Presenter was well-prepared.

Very good! Learnt very much!

Very interesting. THRASS will help me a lot and make a difference in my way of teaching and the learners’ way of learning.

A good course – making us aware of pronunciation, as well as teaching reading and spelling.

The workshop was of a high quality. I am very excited to implement it.
