GUIDED TRAINING FOR TEACHERS, ASSISTANTS AND PARENTS

THRASS ONE-DAY FOUNDATION,
MANCHESTER, MARCH 9, 2007

Portable Document Format

Fantastic day, lots of new information since the previous day that I attended. Particularly enjoyed the parts about spelling choices. Great resources!

Enjoyable and informative.

It was very interesting and a lot of fun, so at the same time you’re learning and having a laugh.

Made sense. Good pacey delivery. Amusing.

Really good. Made a lot of sense of something which looks initially quite confusing. I loved the software for the Smart Board. Think the children will be able to get a lot out of it.

I found the course very valuable. It will help me with the foundation stage children who I support.

Very interactive and engaging. I’d really benefit from yet more Inset on THRASS.

I found the course very interesting and can see the benefits, although I work with an autistic child who has learnt most of the chart but is still struggling with connections.

Found it very interesting. Will use THRASS in work and personal life and now understand where it goes!

Very good – met my individual needs (lack of own knowledge). Also brought together range of staff and met other needs. Well delivered with enthusiastic style and expertise demonstrated.

Enjoyed the day – even though I have been using THRASS for over two years, I was pleased to come out with more ideas – particularly as I have just changed key stages. Thank you for telling the truth!

Well delivered, it made sense. Will be very useful for my work with deaf children. Made me think about how we teach children. Will definitely look at the website to see what I can use.

A concept to take ideas from for teaching. Some ideas contradictory and some reinforcing other systems. Good spelling techniques. Too many examples can fall into “Catch All” in some cases.

Thankyou! Lots of information. Very useful.

Excellent – but rather fast. Feel I need much more depth (although understand the reasons).

An interesting course, very helpful and useful. I learnt so much about THRASS. I’ll be using the THRASS chart with my relatives as well as in school.

Informative, interesting. Ideas for classroom activities. Upset we didn’t get to do the full rap!

Great, thankyou. Lots of reflection and ideas for me!

Very useful. Engaging, with lots of ideas for practical activities in class.

Very helpful. Given me a wider understanding of the use of THRASS, phonemes and graphemes.

Very interesting and useful to see how to put the theory into practise. Makes so much sense!

Very good, thankyou! A stimulating, whistle-stop tour of THRASS. A little rushed at times (unavoidable) and so felt a bit overloaded by 3 o’clock, but very useful.

Very informative. Lots of ideas to use in class and at home.

Very stimulating and enjoyable, though a great deal to take in. I take issue with the assumption that until THRASS teachers assumed English had 26 phonemes. My own teaching has always included 44! (30 years+). Nonetheless, I found this very stimulating. [What! I’ve never claimed this. I am sorry that you were left with this view and it was certainly not intended. Alan]

Found whole day extremely interesting. Lots of information and clearer understanding of THRASS. Thank you for a very professional presentation.

Lots of ideas and activities to use in class and made progression more clear. Great set of resources
