THRASS 15 MINS A DAY X 2 COURSE,
BIRMINGHAM, MARCH 8, 2007

Portable Document Format

Great to have a re-visit to the basic principles of THRASS. This course moved us all on to understand how to implement THRASS with success. A very worthwhile day. Also, good to see Phoneme Machine demonstrated.

Useful to see how the scheme of work integrates in, gives more direction to teaching THRASS.

Modelling lessons is really useful, teachers learn quickly this way – we are just big kids really. Alan allows questioning in a positive way. All input very useful and it has given me inspiration to develop teaching input. It also reassured me that I am doing the majority of teaching correctly, always a good feeling!

Useful day to revise previous knowledge, and learn more about 15 Minutes a Day. Also, good demonstration of Phoneme Machine.

Good to recap on THRASS skills, I now have a clearer understanding of how to complete the Profilecard and the development in teaching with THRASS throughout the school. The Phoneme Machine is brilliant can’t wait to try it out!

A fantastic reminder of the benefits of using THRASS in our school.

A great course, which consolidated previous knowledge. I am feeling a lot more confident and have some ideas to use in the classroom.

Very useful, lots of good ideas for how to use the resources and how to continually reinforce the skills and learning. Now I have a good idea for how to implement this in KS2 and look forward to developing the ideas.

A lot was covered today – much to take in but excellent, as usual. Our school still need to have more resources in order to deliver the 15 Minutes a Day scheme of work.

The day provided us with some really useful ideas to take back to school and share with other staff. I found it very useful looking at the resources and how these could be used in class. Overall, a very interesting and informative day.

I feel more confident in how to teach the THRASS skills to KS2 children without previous experiences. Also, I feel more confident in extending THRASS for Y6 children who are more able/confident in reading and spelling.

Helped my understanding of what the 15 Minutes A Day will ‘look like’ – found book difficult to understand before course.

It has certainly provided food for thought. As a school our implementation of THRASS has been problematic but hopefully this will provide some answers to our many questions about how to progress.

Excellent refresher. Good to see progression through the stages. Cleared up some issues over assessment. I feel that your personal approach has relaxed slightly. The Phoneme Machine has really advanced and taken into account what teachers have asked for.

Really useful – good ideas for games and reinforcements. Will definitely download Phoneme Machine and look into four-hour course for LSAs.
