I really enjoyed the course. It was well
presented and interesting. I have been using THRASS but feel more confident
about what I am doing. Alan’s passion has made me feel very excited about
getting back to my classroom to try out all the new ideas presented.
Excellent. Presentation was engaging, informative and importantly, articulated
both the method and the promise/purpose of THRASS. A great course. Resources –
very good. Presentation – excellent. Organisation of days/provisions –
excellent. Enjoyment – spot on!
Course was excellent. Very informative. Finally thought I may have a way in for
teaching with work which I’ve never really understood! Materials currently in
school are full of contradictions and Year 6 children are still not literate and
nobody seems to be able to advise. Now really need to consolidate by “having a
go”. A bit worried I’ll make major errors and would like to go somewhere for
support! Would like to go over it all more slowly. Will try e-mail course on
website.
Excellent course but feel need of much more input before I would be confident to
teach a class. Happy to try with my own children though. Would be good to sit in
on Jane Ralphs’ classes for a few weeks and learn with her children.
Fantastic course. Why didn’t I learn like this? Not only will it help my
teaching, but it will also help with my own child who is learning THRASS in
another school, will help me know what she is doing. Thanks.
Excellent. I finally understand how to spell and, in my late thirties, it’s
better late than never! Will definitely recommend this.
Excellent course. Extremely enjoyable. I’m now fired with enthusiasm.
Excellent!
Another good THRASSING! Thank you Alan. Fabulous as usual!
Found this course to be very interesting and more so when we watched Mrs.
Ralph’s class in practice – made it “real”. A lot of information to take in over
the two days. A very big thankyou – brilliant.
As a student teacher I felt this course was extremely useful and informative. It
has provided me with the skills to successfully teach phonics in the classroom.
This course should be in all universities. Thankyou. Also, extremely helpful to
be held in a school environment.
This has opened my eyes to the teaching of phonics; it has been very valuable to
me. I will feel much more confident in the classroom, now I need to put it into
practice to reinforce what Alan has taught me. Very useful for my own children,
particularly my son who is struggling with phonics at his school due to his
hyperactivity, just hope I don’t confuse him.
Mind-blowing – came in sceptical, now sold on scheme. Delivery was excellent,
never boring, given with clarity and was fun. Need time now to assimilate the
information and get my head around all the words – grapheme, phoneme-graphemes
etc. Will also need to ensure I am confident about all the 44 phonemes. Lots of
learning. Phew!
I feel much more confident with THRASS. Many thanks Alan for a further Thrassing!
A lot to take in. It has given me an understanding of what my children are being
taught. I think I need a bit more practise thought.
Very comprehensive course which will enable me to enjoy participating in my
children’s future with a defined and clear knowledge of the current ways of
teaching. THRASS has already assisted my daughters school life considerably by
linking the children throughout the school with a ‘common knowledge’.
A brilliant course of how to help teach THRASS. It has opened my eyes to what
can be done to help children with their reading, writing and spelling skills. I
think that this way of learning should be introduced to most schools. An
enjoyable way of learning!
Thankyou. The two-day course made so much more sense than the one-hour exposure
earlier this year. Now I can see how useful this will be when I teach five years
olds next year. Your enthusiasm is very enjoyable to observe.
Thank you for an inspiring two days. Even though I had a days training in the
autumn, this two-day session was very clarifying. It is definitely a program
that will become key to my literacy lessons. I now understand the importance of
teaching the children the ”map”. It was also lovely spending two days in such a
lovely school.
I have found the course extremely informing and interesting. It is a real fun
way of learning and I will definitely be relaying what I’ve learnt to the
children at pre-school and my own children.
A super way of learning how to THRASS. I thoroughly enjoyed finding out about
the skills involved in THRASS and am excited and enthused about introducing them
into my school. My head hurts too much to write/think any more but I will be
testing my new found knowledge on some students who I won’t believe cannot be
helped to read and write in Year 7/8 even though five years at primary school
has not enabled them to do so yet. Many thanks.
The two days has been extremely helpful to me. I have enjoyed the course and am
going to go back to school tomorrow and try to change things (burn all our Pips
books!) I did a PGCE three years ago and learnt very little about phonics; this
has been very inspirational. It was very interesting to see what work is done at
Oxley (big thanks to them) and to hear about THRASS work internationally. I hope
to get my school on board so that we can start this and be ready to launch
THRASS in September. Thankyou Alan for an inspiring two days.
I have found this course extremely useful and informative, not only in my
position with the children at work regarding their early years education, but
also as a parent with my own children. I have learnt a considerable amount in a
fun sociable way!
