THRASS ONE-DAY FOUNDATION,

Well presented visual day – Hilary explained the system really well. Everything slotted into place like a jigsaw.

Lots to think about. Now need a staff meeting to evaluate and discuss. I was glad all the staff at my school were able to have the course as we can now look at introducing it as a whole school. Does all make sense – particularly like the fact that there is no sudden new learning but all built on the foundations. I will now be going to the website to look further into it – particularly with reference to parent’s support and support to parents.

A good day with lots to think about. I need to read the guidebook and discuss with KS2 literacy co-ordinator and foundation teacher. Rap CD and CD-ROM to order at later date.

Superb! Entertaining and to the point. I now need time to really get my head around all the component parts! Children will love the raps etc.

Really helpful and useful and you said at the beginning – as KS2 teacher training glossed over the teaching of phonics with hardly a mention (10+ years ago) and I’ve felt as though I’ve been teaching it somewhat in the dark – this has clarified things a lot for me.

I found the course very interesting and will now go and share with staff at school to see what aspects, (some if not all) we can take on board. Thankyou.

Having purchased a range of resources for the school which are being used on-and-off by teachers across the age range, the course has given me more ideas about how to bring some level of consistency to our approach. It was useful to go through all ten stages too. We are excited about the THRASS idea and still hope, eventually to be able to hold our own INSET day for all our own teachers. Until then, I will persevere and would be very interested in the scheme of work and the CD/DVD.

As a middle school Literacy Co-ordinator I found it interesting to see what could be used in our feeder primaries. It would be nice to do this, as a cluster as I think this would be hard to pick up as KS2 initiative.

Thank you Hilary. I have done the two day course and learnt more today and really enjoyed it. I have done a presentation for one school who had started with some idea, but needed to inform new staff. Hope there will be more opportunities to do this.
