An awesome
phonic foundation for children and provision for hooks to become proficient
readers, writers and spellers. I think we could help learners with difficulties
and cut out a lot of extra therapies these children need to attend. All children
and adults will benefit from THRASS. I believe it’s fun and integrative and can
be part of all learning areas.
An excellent
two days! I wish had been available thirty years ago! I have learned a
tremendous amount and am very excited about taking this into class. Laola, your
enthusiasm is catching.
Well
presented. It has really taught me a lot about the English Language. Great ideas
for classroom activities in all learning areas. Makes learning more fun and
enjoyable. Would highly recommend all educators, even parents, be trained in
this methodology. We will be “THRASSING” our days away!
I found the
course to be thoroughly fantastic! As a linguistic major and doing my
postgraduate in Educational Psychology, it combines the theory into a very
practical and cognitively sound teaching strategy. THRASS seems to embody the
contructivist approach and simultaneously cater for successive and simultaneous
processors/learners. Hopefully, by using this approach and making learning
literacy skills fun, less children will be ‘misdiagnosed’ as ADD simply because
they are more motivated to learn. I would be interested in doing a research
project – comparative study between remedial learners taught the ‘old’ way vs.
the THRASS way and using mental imagery.
Great. Will
certainly make a difference in the way I approach the teaching of reading,
writing and spelling skills. Laola presented it so well, I am really looking
forward to literacy lessons.
Fantastic.
Really interesting. I think it is a great way to teach reading and spelling. I
think it needs to be implemented correctly from the beginning - starting with
Stage 1. Just learning the rap, with no understanding is useless. I will begin
using THRASS on Monday! Thanks for a great 2 days Laola.
Thoroughly
enjoyed my two days and can’t wait to investigate this system. I expect it will
be an invaluable aid to spelling, reading and writing. Laola was vital and
interesting from beginning to end.
Very well
presented! It was enlightening! A lot of time was provided for questions and
discussion and clarification of concepts and ideas. This is a brilliant method
and I can’t wait to implement it!
Very
enjoyable – definitely makes sense to me and as a remedial therapist, I can see
that children will be able to use and integrate it in all work. Thanks.
Very good and meaningful. Wish that
there was someone who had thought of THRASS 30 years ago, then I could have
approached English with self-confidence. Lots of information – would have liked
to do the course over more days. Very lively and good presentation.
A wonderful
course. Looking forward to using the useful aids/cards/pictures. Laola is so
enthusiastic!
Well
presented. Visual material available and used as demonstration material. Breaks
well planned and organised. Good sized group – small enough to become intimate
and we worked well together. A wonderful method of teaching and gaining the
interest and involvement of the children.
Excellent,
well worthwhile. Would like to implement into full school as soon as possible!
Thank you Laola. I can now see why my son and many others are battling to read
and spell.
Thanks and
congratulations on a job well done! Enthusiasm – contagious … can’t wait to
start!
A lively,
interesting and informative course. You were so enthusiastic, it rubbed off!
It was very informative. I truly
enjoyed it. I can’t wait to implement it in my class. Thank you.
