GUIDED TRAINING FOR TEACHERS, ASSISTANTS AND PARENTS

THRASS ONE-DAY FOUNDATION,
HAMPSHIRE, JUNE 30, 2006

Portable Document Format

Comprehensive – clear overview. A good, direct teaching method – it made sense.

Inspirational! Can see it working and will recommend that the whole school do take it on board. Literacy Manager/SENCO are on a two day course in September.

Rapid re-visit and refresher. Looking forward to implementing THRASS in school.

Enjoyable and well presented. It helped to make much clearer the inter-relationships between the different stages. It will help with the introduction of THRASS into both the schools I work in.

Very useful. We have been using THRASS for a while. I’m glad I had training at this stage. I am familiar with most materials by now, but this really clarified things. Will enable me to move on with THRASS.

Very informative, good presentation. Lots of ideas.

Clearly and efficiently presented. Very good subject knowledge. Questions answered thoroughly.

Logical approach, appears systematic and user-friendly. I am a kinaesthetic learner and kept drifting! Course has clear structure at heart but would benefit from more practical activities.

An excellent mix of practical activities linked to the concepts involved.

Very interesting. I can see how THRASS might really help some children I have worked with this year.

Charts will be useful in class for the children. Course rather lengthy. Could have been consolidated.

An inspiring day from which I go away feeling better equipped to help the children in school.

This has helped tremendously; helping me to understand why things are done and in what order.

Very useful, very clear, good pace. Good visual resources. SN children who have started this have picked it up very quickly and are extremely motivated in my class.

Rather overwhelmed by amount of talk and length of sessions without movement. Very much liked the posters of the different sounds. Would use these.

Informative, interesting, well presented. Clear resources.

An extremely informative day. Many ideas for teaching THRASS. The handbook was explained clearly and I now have a clear idea of how I will deliver THRASS to all members of my class.

Very informative. Lots of ideas to take back to school. Very enjoyable day.

It was good to get ideas for how it is introduced to very young children in Year R but we are very much looking forward to receiving the new book “15 Minutes a Day”.

Informative day – a good introduction to this approach. Well presented and helpful to those of us who will be using this.

Very informative and enjoyable course. Will cascade to school on return and hope to put into action in September. Look forward to Day 2.

Lots of information delivered well – have already been on a 2-day course – but it was good to have a refresher course. Gave me time to think up more ideas and understand further.

Having been on one of Alan’s two day courses this was like a refresher and gave me time to reflect and think about my own teaching and how to facilitate good practice.

Very interesting, good and helpful information, though it might take time to fully digest. Books and sheets excellent. Informative day.

Very informative and lots of information to look at. I will certainly read through the resources.

Useful information and I will use it in the classroom. Good resources for us to keep. I have learned a lot. I would have liked the day to be a little more hands-on.

Interesting ideas and resources. Picturecharts and overwrite charts will be useful. I feel I have learnt a lot from taking part.

Great to see spelling programme given clear structure for overlearning. Would like time to have used more resources; Phoneme Machine etc.

As I am a visual learner it was useful to see how to use the materials effectively – good examples of games and uses for a range of ages. Addressed all questions clearly.

Very informative, wish to investigate software considerations across the whole school. Each session not too long but packed with progressive information. Lots of free resources for school. Good delivery.

Some great ideas of how to tap into the different learning styles of children to enable them to improve their phonic knowledge.
