GUIDED TRAINING FOR TEACHERS, ASSISTANTS AND PARENTS

THRASS ONE-DAY FOUNDATION,
BEDFORDSHIRE, JUNE 30, 2006

Portable Document Format

Great to have a refresher, amazing how much I could remember seven years later. Looking forward to looking on the website. Will be taking the e-mail course. Lovely to see someone so enthusiastic about entertaining to educate. Looking forward to teaching with THRASS again.

Brilliant again. Use loads of your strategies already and will be improving some of my routines and assessing better, after today’s course. Great to hear that I’m doing lots of things “right”. I want to cascade THRASS to volunteers who read with our children now. Thankyou and keep up the great work.

Great day, really enjoyed myself and learnt a lot. Made me think abut how phonics is taught. Will now have to share my enthusiasm with the rest of my school.

Brilliant, for school and home, having this basic skill will be wonderful. I can use this knowledge.

Fantastic! As an NQT I had no confidence in teaching phonics or improving spelling. Being on this course has turned me from ‘terrified’ to ‘excited’ so thank you very much. Excellent delivery – clear, dynamic, engaging. Thank you for being approachable and making it sound achievable.

Excellent – a day well spent. You have made it much clearer in my mind on how to teach THRASS.

Excellent. I think the map will be very useful. I shall also use the analogy of players and the pitch. It would be good to have age appropriate pictures for older children and our school would find a Makaton chart useful. Sorry, still not convinced about spellings with the letter names, especially for my students. I prefer sh-ee-p as this is more of a link with reading, which is my primary area of concern.

There was an awful lot of information to take in all at once but I think it will be very useful with the pupils I work with (especially the English as second language pupil).

Lots and lots of information in a short time. Need a whole school approach. Enjoyed the day.

A great way to teach the children. I have found this course very interesting and informative. Enjoyable.

A lot to take in in a day which was made easier for me as I have seen parts in action in the classroom.

I am really glad I came. I was very keen to start this programme but I did not know how to start. Your explanation was very good, and easy to follow. I can’t wait to start doing this with my deaf children.

An interesting and informative day. Built/developed existing knowledge. Useful as I have an interest in dyslexia teaching. Great ideas for the classroom.

A lively personality who educates and entertains, making everything seem achievable and our contributions are valued.

Dynamic and enthusiastic lecturer. Lots of participation by everyone positively encouraged. Exciting and well presented, am totally enthused and dying to try THRASS with my own class. Very enjoyable course, resources were great and the pack we got to keep was fab too. Thank you so much.

So very informative. An exciting package that I actually feel I could follow! Alan’s enthusiasm has encouraged me to want to know more – I am very interested in how to involve parents as partnership will reinforce all that we teach our children so they are getting an all round educational package.

EXCELLENT DAY! This course has been fantastic. Everything has been explained so clearly and I think this will be great to use. I am keen to start using it.

Brilliant! Can’t wait to do Day 2! I am going to recommend we use THRASS throughout the school.

We will be using THRASS from next week in the Nursery. Learnt a lot from this interesting course!
