GUIDED TRAINING FOR TEACHERS, ASSISTANTS AND PARENTS

THRASS TWO-DAY CERTIFICATE,
S YORKSHIRE, JUNE 30-JULY 1, 2008

Portable Document Format

Great, lots to think about. A whole school way of teaching to help all our students.

Very interesting. A lot of information to absorb in two days. Training was very thorough.

Entertaining and interactive. It makes sense for pupils and teachers in terms of raising literacy and achievement.

Very informative and enjoyable course. The different elements were linked well and relevance to my classroom practice was made clear. The material provided has been very useful and will be more so in my future classes.

Very inspiring. I believe that follow up training/continuous training during the implementation of the programme would be helpful/necessary.

An enjoyable two days. Good ideas for teaching and using THRASS in the classroom.

Excellent presentation. Very enthusiastic presenter. THRASS will be a very useful tool in our school.

Very enthusiastic presentation and useful information regarding phonemes and graphemes.

I enjoyed the course – I thought it was well ‘chunked’ and the resources were good. I thought Alan was entertaining and informative and conveyed the material very well. I would have liked a glossary of terms on a laminated sheet.

Good, intensive course with lots to fit in. It would be useful to have a further session after a short reflection period to reinforce understanding.

Very informative and mind blowing. Being a teacher who doesn’t know how to teach reading and spelling, I now feel confident that there is a ‘truthful’ way to teach it. Sometimes you went a little too fast and I felt a little lost at times. Structure of the day was excellent – lots of breaks and good timings of sessions.

Very informative and detailed. A lot to take in, more time to apply content would have been ideal. Follow-up course to challenge teaching and remove errors would be useful in the future.

Extremely informative and makes sense! Fast pace at times – trainer and participants constantly on your feet to keep up. Fun made it easier to learn.

Very fast paced – I may need some time with the resources to clarify my own understanding.

Enjoyable course. Found some of it very overpowering.

I thoroughly enjoyed the course – wish it had been available when my children were small. I will definitely give it a go with my grandchild.

Good – makes sense, but very intense for a non-academic!

From a parents point of view, great idea if introduced early enough in primary.

Made so much sense! I just wish I’d been available to attend the first day!

So disappointed missing the first day. Exciting and enlightening! The way forward!

Very complex details communicated very clearly.

Very professional, informative and enlightening. Brilliant resources. I feel like I have learned a new language and now know it well enough to take it away and apply it straight away. I was quite saturated after lunch on day 2 and playing more games then would have been more appreciated.

Excellent course, really learnt a lot in such a short space of time. I really wish the learning was available to my children a long time ago.

Excellent course, wide range of activities, everyone was encouraged to get involved, fantastic resources. Alan was a very friendly, enthusiastic presenter. The implementation ideas at the end of the presentation were very useful.
