GUIDED TRAINING FOR TEACHERS, ASSISTANTS AND PARENTS

THRASS "15 MINS TIMES 2" COURSE,
GTG, SOUTH AFRICA, JUNE 19, 2008

Portable Document Format

An excellent, inspiring presentation.

Brilliant, as always. Alan, thank you so much for putting so many of our issues to bed! You have made our teachers feel confident and re-energised.

I enjoyed your presentation, yet again. Very good to go through the skills and how they are assessed. As a Crawford teacher, I have found that THRASS has enhanced my teaching of spelling, reading and writing. I have integrated it into my literacy programme and the children have benefited enormously. Keep up the fantastic work and enthusiasm.

It makes absolute sense. I now feel more confident. Wonderful.

Stunning! It was great to be able to be put back on track. I’ve been working with THRASS for three years and the benefits and ideas are incredible – and you can see it in the children’s work. You can’t compare it to any other phonics programme. Well done!

Good ideas, very informative, tremendous help. Thoroughly enjoyable. Made things a whole lot clearer and focussed. Can’t wait to get back into class tomorrow!

I have been re-energised, re-focussed and re-directed. I thoroughly enjoyed this day even though I thought I was exhausted. You are inspirational.

Excellent. Great to know that we are on track. Assessment section cleared up a lot of queries.

Lovely to get a refresher of the accredited course. I have been implementing it for a year in smaller learning groups and have found this helpful to get back on track. Thanks for the scheme of work!

Time flew by. How could anybody consider teaching English any other way? Clear, logical and fun!

Very interesting and informative. Always learn something new.

Very helpful, cleared up many issues for me!

Fab!

I found this more beneficial than the two day course. I feel far more at ease with THRASS, and now know I’ll be able to implement it. Thanks for the sound advice and for listening to our concerns.

Great!

It was nice to know that what we are doing is on track! The children in my class love the Sing-A-Long CD.

Extremely valuable as a follow up from initial training. Didn’t think I could manage a new programme but have surprised myself and my children in the classes I have taught. Alan, thank you so much for your energy, inspiration and knowledge. Hope you will be back again in the near future!

Thoroughly enjoyed the recap. Brought everything together. Did the first course without seeing it in action, so lovely to go over everything and know that we are on the right track.

So much of what you say makes so much sense now. It is really worthwhile doing refresher courses as you never stop learning! Thank you for a wonderful course.

Good to know that one is on the right track. Nice revision and new ideas.

Great, clever, fantastic. My kids love the Sing-A-Long CD.

A great refresher and confidence booster.

Fantastic to have you back Alan! Learnt a lot, feel refreshed again and I have lots of new ideas.

A lot of information in one session but well set out with well timed breaks.

Very useful. Good to have a recap and deal with some issues.

Very enlightening.

Thanks, helped to clarify some concerns and been given more ideas in teaching THRASS. Could break the course down more as some points irrelevant for Gr R.

Opportunities are endless. Loved the ideas and would have liked to have seen more examples of classroom teaching. Possibly break down the course into grades as last part irrelevant to Grade R.

Wow, thanks. I enjoy THRASS more and more. Frustrated with my teachers when I was a kid for not teaching me like this. Such a dynamic course. Thanks for all the ideas.

It was great. We have started implementing THRASS this year and it was great to see that we had tackled it correctly. It was a good refresher and now we can go back and implement it 100% and with an even better understanding. Thanks, it was fantastic.

Great, a good revision. I struggled to stay focussed for six hours – after first teaching for most of the day. Very helpful, otherwise!

Every teacher should use the 15 Minutes a Day scheme of work. It shows clearly how to teach THRASS – step by step. Enjoyed the course and it extended my knowledge and understanding.

Thank you for answering many of our questions and recapping so many things that we needed to be reminded of. You are always very entertaining!

Good revision of initial course. I think most of us are actually on the right track, although we often feel we don’t have enough time to implement THRASS properly.

It was wonderful to really see what THRASS is and how it works. Although we were doing THRASS we were often going our own way. We have had answers to many questions and a greater understanding of how the programme works, progresses etc. I am really motivated and enthusiastic.

Very inspirational! Has cleared up some confusion and given me confidence to go forward with enthusiasm.

Stimulating and inspiring. Lovely ideas and new innovations. Too short, wanted more! Solved many teething problems. We wish more of our colleagues had been here to know how to continue with the good work.

Thank you for clarifying so many of our queries. It was also great to revise the whole THRASS system. We have become far more comfortable with THRASS over the past 18 months but now I feel we will be able to go further with the children. It is essential that all our Grade 00 teachers are trained a.s.a.p!
