GUIDED TRAINING FOR TEACHERS, ASSISTANTS AND PARENTS

THRASS TWO-DAY CERTIFICATE,
MILTON KEYNES, JULY 6-7, 2007

Portable Document Format

An excellent course! I found it very interesting and look forward to using it with the children.

Very interesting and fast paced.

Great. Can’t wait to get started.

Looking forward to trying it with my class. Would have liked more on KS2 spellings/reading. Very enjoyable, informative, thorough training to teach THRASS.

The start of an inspirational personal journey that is only just beginning. I only hope that I can do the programme justice. Great delivery and inspiring resources.

Really enjoyed it. The strategy was delivered so it could be easily understood. The final part of the course was very compact.

Course provided vast details about scheme. Practical ideas for implementation, liked the fact the scheme is pro the whole approach to reading/writing and spelling. Interactive resources provide valuable resources for teachers and parents.

Lots of new ideas and information to take on board. Looking forward to putting them into practise.

The course was interesting; there are many concepts that our children will enjoy. Lots of information.

Very intense training. I will be interested to now have a go and see it working in class and school.

Very useful and developed my knowledge. Need to realise where to start the children.

The course was very thorough and a lot covered. Was very useful for my understanding. I still need to do a lot of work to understand where to start with the children.

Very comprehensive and makes sense for our children. Very intense but useful. Very inspired, can’t wait to get started and to see the difference in my children.

Very comprehensive and makes a lot of sense. Brain hurts now!

Very interesting. Makes more sense than other schemes (gives children the whole picture). Very intense training – need to now have a go and see it working. Like the chart and raps!

Very interesting and intense. Makes sense. Looking forward to using scheme. Need to now have a go at putting it into practice.

Very interesting but quite intense. Looking forward to putting what I’ve learnt into practice.

Enjoyed as a whole. Intense (appreciate it needs to be!) Would like to may be do more, i.e. deliver to partner etc. because I got brain melt!

Very well presented. Good resources. Lots to take on board.

A lot to take on in two days. I’m still not sure about the amount of material that a child with SEN would have to take on. How would this help a child with their spelling if it still relies on their visual recall? I thought the resources were excellent, especially the ICT ones. Very enthusiastic delivery.

Boundless energy. A joy to behold! Inspiring stuff from the heart – thankyou. We can see so many ways of using this with Cued Speech. We have real hope for deaf children’s literacy in the future. Hurrah!

Brilliant! Great to finally find an approach to incorporate everything a confident literate child needs to use everyday. Quite pacy – need time to reflect and prepare!

Very useful.

A truly awesome teaching tool presented in an equally awesome way! You have thought of everything and it all makes perfect sense. I’m really excited about adapting it (slightly), using Cued Speech, to make THRASS accessible to our deaf students.

Extremely useful. Very pacy. Great fun. Will form the backbone of the thrust of our staff meetings next term, as THRASS will become our phonics programme from September. We will make it successful! Please update us on everything.

Excellent theory – really helped me to understand the English language. Lively and entertaining. What you said made so much sense! We are very much looking forward to implementing THRASS and will let you know how we get on. Would have helped some staff if each stage you were talking about was highlighted e.g. we are now on Stage 4 and this is how…

I found the course very interesting and informative. Due to the volume of training. I felt brain soggy at times.

I think the idea is really good – fantastic to have somewhere for the sounds to belong. We needed the teaching of the technical terms – you’re right- more time could have been spent on us taking part in phonics activities. You spent a lot of time explaining why we should be on board when we were already – we didn’t need so much convincing!

A very intensive course. A lot has been packed into two days, leaving very little time for questions and queries. But very, very helpful.

An excellent course – I am certainly convinced! Alan was lively, the days were well paced and he kept us interested and involved! He answered all of our questions. Would have liked to have spent more time getting used to using the scheme of work. Thank you, Alan for your efforts!

Intensive – too much for two days. Would have preferred first morning to have concentrated on revision of our phonics knowledge – e.g. consonant blends. As a group it became clear on the second day some were unsure of the difference between consonant blends and digraphs. Appreciated the chance to ask questions throughout and I feel our questions were all treated seriously and well answered.

Course was very interesting and I can see myself using it as a parent as well as at work. I do think some of it was too long-winded and repeated. I think it would have been more interesting being a bit more interactive. On the whole brilliant concept.

Very inspiring but sometimes confusing, maybe because of time constraints. Can see relevance as parent but worry about precise explanations and conflict with my school’s current programme. Enjoyable and involving.

I would have liked to have seen how to teach a whole lesson (model lessons) and how to put ideas into practice. Main theory makes sense.
