A very informative, interesting and most enjoyable course. Wonderful new ideas
as well as recap of the old. Look forward to the next course!
A very interesting and informative course. Lovely ideas and good reinforcement.
Very informative and exciting. Also gives us a good guideline on how to
implement the different stages. We tend to fall back on old habits – good to
have a refresher and new ideas. Thanks Alan.
Informative and made us more aware of the program for our level.
Wish I’d had the lesson plans first time round! Lots of questions answered. Need
to internalise the information.
A very useful course which reinforced the need for solid grounding of the basic
skills in THRASS – sometimes we tend to jump ahead too soon.
Very useful to refresh all the stages since the initial course. Cleared up a few
queries and uncertainties.
Good presentation skills. Feel more confident to teach THRASS.
It was good recap but could have been done a little faster. We are working with
the stages so we know them. I would have liked more examples of what to do in
the classroom to avoid THRASS becoming boring. Very entertaining.
Thanks for enthusiasm and knowledge. Perhaps too much information for one day –
information indigestion, but I got the idea. It’s great.
Thanks for your enthusiastic presentation. Perhaps too much to take in, in one
day! Worthwhile. Always good to go over things again.
Great to have practical ideas and games to include in class. I also now have a
clearer understanding of the THRASS language and resource material.
There was so much to think about. I’m all excited to implement the new ideas. I
feel that some of the things discussed was a repeat of the previous course and
could have perhaps been moved through more quickly.
Good follow up to the initial course. Lots of answers to questions we wanted to
know. Loved the ideas for the spelling. Have not used Overwrite Charts enough.
Nice consolidation. Feel more confident that what I am doing is okay as well as
nice new ideas.
I am now very confused. I wish we had done it this way to begin with, It is
daunting to now change everything when we thought it was going well.
Enjoyed! Good refresher and certain ideas can be re-visited and reviewed.
Everyone thinking again.
Found it very interesting and detailed, with a clearer focus for my level. Will
attempt new ideas.
Thanks. I enjoyed the course; reinforced ideas.
Levels were of interest and some super ideas were implemented. Was of value.
Good reinforcement! We are on the right track – just need to add a few more
things.
Great! Being new to THRASS, I still have a lot to learn but today gave me an
excellent overview.
It was great to have a refresher course. Very practical with some great ideas
that I can’t wait to use.
Reinforcement of what we have been taught but there are new areas of confusion
because of the manner in which we have implemented the programme in our classes.
Would much prefer to see lessons taken place! [Reply from Alan: I have provided
hours and hours of video on the internet and on DVD, which staff and new staff
can play back again and again (including good footage, dare I say, from township
and farm schools in South Africa!). I suggest you look at the videos, as many
others have done – and at a time that is convenient to yourself. For
information, other videos are planned for this year, relating to the new “15
mins times 2” scheme of work and the associated groundbreaking Phoneme Machine
4.1 software.]
I preferred the later sessions. Thanks for the video clips and communications by
email from Chris Griffiths at THRASS. I have downloaded and watched many clips
and they have really helped.
Very interesting. I got out some practical ideas. As a teacher of the younger
children, a lot of the later sessions were a bit of an overload!
Today has provided a more detailed framework with which to work.
I like the structure of the lessons. I think its important that we all follow
this programme, as a team, to reach the maximum benefits for all the children.
Very interesting day. Thanks for putting it all in perspective.
