GUIDED TRAINING FOR TEACHERS, ASSISTANTS AND PARENTS

THRASS ONE-DAY FOUNDATION,
BLACKPOOL, JAN 5, 2007

Portable Document Format

Excellent, comprehensive overview of THRASS. Infectious enthusiasm for teaching and using THRASS. It was useful to see the progression and how to make best use of resources. Fantastic delivery.

This course was very well presented and very informative.

An excellent course and was very inspirational to all staff. It helped to ensure staff fully understood the basic concepts and ideas. We need to do the next day of the course and develop parents’ knowledge.

Very useful. Alan delivered the information with enthusiasm and lots of fun was had by all.

A very beneficial course, giving practical insight to delivering the teaching of phonics in an organised and involving way. The presentation was both extremely enjoyable and useful I look forward to using it.

Simply excellent and inspirational.

Very informative and useful. I’ve really enjoyed today and have been given a lot of ideas and strategies to teach phonics to my class!

Thank you for an excellent day, fulfilling my expectations and more. I was at a stage with my mixed class as to what the next course of action would be – now I know!

Fantastic! As a Y5 teacher, I am now more aware of where I’m going with THRASS and am looking forward to enthusing the children!

Very useful course – enthusiastically delivered. Lots of ideas for using range of resources. May have also been good to have a couple of examples of how to refer to THRASS when supporting reading and writing i.e. outside of the taught sessions. A super day – thank you very much.

As an NQT coming into the school, midway through the year and having never heard of THRASS, I was extremely worried and sceptical. However, after the foundations being explained today you have completely quashed my worries and my scepticism. Thank you for giving me the confidence to follow the rest of the staff in the teaching of THRASS!

Really useful in clarifying my knowledge of phonics. I feel much happier using the charts, and have got some good ideas for starting points. I was hoping for a few more ideas to use with older children, as they are now quite familiar with the raps and terminology – perhaps that is Day 2? Very enjoyable.

Lively, enthusiastic presenter! Enjoyed interactive teaching style. Thank goodness for someone with common sense! Having “used” Letterland in my NQT year and become frustrated with teaching sounds, it is refreshing to have the green light to teach whole language. Cannot wait to work with my pre-schoolers. Thank you for an interesting day.

Well presented and explained. Great for children to benefit from new ideas.

I trained as a teacher over a decade ago. I so wish I had received THRASS training then! An excellent course, I really want to complete the Day 2 part of the course. I was previously a Reading Recovery teacher, this would have been very useful to me.

Very informative, lots of ideas, ways of teaching THRASS. Increased knowledge and understanding of THRASS, which will be able to be used within the classroom.

Very enthusiastic and interesting, lots of ideas to think about and introduce. The charts are much easier to understand and I look forward to Day 2!

Excellent. Everything was clearly explained and well presented. Provided me with the confidence and enthusiasm to tackle THRASS. I finally understand grapheme/phoneme/blends……….WOW!

Very informative and well presented. Extremely enthusiastic which has kept the audience interested.

Very interesting and informative. It will give me more confidence when assisting the teacher and children to use THRASS.

Very informative, plenty to think about, lots of useful information. Well presented.

Very useful, well presented, brilliant resources.

I thought this course was very interesting and informative. It is something I will be confident in using with the special needs children I support.

Very good, some great ideas to use with SEN Children. Wish I had been taught in this way.

Very informative and helpful. Some excellent ideas for using in class. Excellent resources, given me lots of ideas to take THRASS forward in my class.

A fantastic, very informative course. I feel much more at home using the THRASS chart. I would love to be able to do Day 2 of the course and I’m sure it would be as informative as today. Can’t wait to try it out on my children at home.

Gave a better understanding of THRASS and its implementation. A very informative training day.

Found the course very informative, feel far more confident when teacher is delivering THRASS.

I found today very informative, thank you. I look forward to the Day 2 of the course.

Very interesting and informative delivered in a clear and concise way.

Learnt a lot more about charts, graph, digraphs, trigraphs etc can now understand phoneme and graphemes, fully enjoyable.

Very informative and interesting. Made me feel a lot more confident about phonics and passing on the learning styles to the children. Alan was a wonderful deliverer of his teaching ways and kept the session light yet concise.

Fantastic, practical – can use right away. Will be ideas for my SEN and children having problems with reading in years 5-6.

Brilliant course – such a help for teaching reading and spelling – especially in a fun way and especially for raising self esteem for SEN Children. Thank you for the mountain of resources.

Very informative and useful. Clarity of explanation throughout. Alan’s enthusiasm ‘fired’ the imagination!  Excellent, if very intense day.

Very informative, thank you!

Excellent day, have inherited lots of fantastic ideas. Wish I had been taught in this way. As a floating teacher – this course has given me an insight of all the stages I will be required to teach in KS1 and 2.

Great day, that taught me a lot, fun, enjoyable, a real must!

Super. Wish I had learnt this years ago! Can’t wait to continue it with my children and move then on.

Thoroughly enjoyed course and found it useful for both school and my children. Will make good use of resources. The course was very well presented and fun!
