GUIDED TRAINING FOR TEACHERS, ASSISTANTS AND PARENTS

THRASS TWO-DAY CERTIFICATE,
DAY 2, CHESHIRE, JAN 9, 2006

Portable Document Format

Extremely informative, explanations clear and succinct. Accompanying materials child and adult friendly. As I work across both key stages, useful to have a scheme that follows through and can also be instigated at any point. The computer discs look great particularly the assessment section. Super delivery Hilary.

Taught me a lot about the breaking up of sounds and explained a lot about my own and children’s ideas about sounds and how to spell words.

An excellent course. Good revision of Day One course, which was given one year ago. Good coverage of all the stages. Delivery was pacey and varied. Feel confident enough to continue with the basic work already established in class.

Excellent day. Very informative. It was good to recap over previous THRASS learnt. Good ideas and resources to use with children. Learnt a lot about ways of linking/breaking words down.

Very useful second day. Good to see new resources especially I.T. ones which will be particularly useful on our new interactive whiteboards. Interesting discussion on different accents and languages.

The course has been very educational and enjoyable. I’ve learnt a lot about teaching the key stages of phonics and the progression. More activities to do with the ‘ch’ would have been better. Perhaps more interactive activities on the course to get involved in. Thankyou.

Very useful to work on the later stages. Good to have some games as we work through the stages. I feel there could be a few more activities to go with each stage even if we begin but don’t finish, as there is a lot of sitting and listening. Even so, very valuable to extend and practice our knowledge.

Another interesting course, re-introducing and developing my THRASS knowledge. After Day 1, it was great to introduce THRASS to the children. The scheme has enabled the children to feel confident in making choices and having a go.

Very concise and enjoyable. Second day able to consolidate previous learning. Much more emphasis on teaching younger children THRASS at second session.

Very informative course, easy to use from nursery age up to year six – makes learning fun (the nursery children will love it with all the good ideas).

A very insightful course which built upon other phonics stuff I have done. It made it all very clear. It was nice to see it links to the Teaching Diploma I did in 1996 in Speech and Drama, where I studied monophong, diphthong and speech faults and other ideas by ‘Gordon Luck’.

Excellent. Very informative, Many ideas. All user friendly.

Nice and clear, suitable for all the school. Particularly interested in the computer programme. Picture book a good addition.

Really enjoyed hearing/seeing all the recent materials. I have been using THRASS for a number of years in my previous school. Found that I had been using a number of ideas without realising I had probably learned them on my earlier courses!
