Portable Document Format

Great! Hilary is a fantastic presenter – funny and entertaining! I’ve learnt a great deal and can’t wait to take it back to my classroom! Loved the video clips and interactive nature of the course.

Very informative course. Hilary is fantastic – keeps you stimulated constantly. It’s an amazing, unforgettable workshop.

Very informative and interesting. Fun and interactive. Explained in a simple, practical and logical way. Most enjoyable.

THRASS now makes so much more sense to me! It was presented in such a clear, fun way. I am looking forward to implementing all these new ideas.

I am so impressed, motivated, excited. Presentation was brilliant.

Wow! What fun, proving that you are never too old to learn. The course was informative, well-presented. Can’t wait to utilize what I have learned in the classroom with my pupils. The course was thoroughly enjoyable. Looking forward to the next one!

An enjoyable, informative course. The presentation was logical and well-prepared. It all made sense.

A lot of fun. It made me understand THRASS a lot better. It also helped me with my pronunciation, because English is not my first language. Thank you very much – you have opened my eyes.

Well-presented. Very informative. Conducive environment. Relevant material. I wish all educators could have this privilege to do THRASS!

Fantastic! Extremely informative. Hilary is an amazing presenter, very knowledgeable, made the course fun. I never got bored. Thank you so much for the opportunity.

I enjoyed the course very much. With a bit of background, it made understanding easier. The kids love it and, through dancing, anything is possible. Keep up the good work, especially your THRASS Absa Talk Together Project.

Very informative and interesting. Amazing method to teach children how to spell. Thanks for a fantastic course. It’s very clear that you love what you do.

I enjoyed the course a lot! It flew by and was well-presented. The course taught me a lot. I feel confident that I could teach THRASS!

An excellent presentation. A very interesting experience overall! A completely new experience for an experienced teacher! I will try to apply it. It would have been useful to know how to work it into a full curriculum at a Grade 4 level. Obviously, it will enable me to teach spelling effectively.

Most enjoyable and very interesting.

I feel much more confident about THRASS in my classroom now. It was presented in such a fun and easily understandable way. The resources are lovely. I look forward to using them.

A great reinforcement to consolidate what I knew – it now makes more sense and I look forward to implementing it and seeing great results! Loved Hilary’s presentation!

It was great fun – you are truly unique! I learned so much and can’t wait to start on Monday using all the info.

I really enjoyed the course and look forward to getting back to school and implementing THRASS.

The course was wonderful; to learn what it can do for a child or anyone who comes across THRASS.

Thank you, Hilary, I have learnt so much. I’m going to go back to school and throw out all of my old phonics equipment. THRASS makes a lot more sense.

I enjoyed every minute of this course. Attending the course has made sense of the charts and it helps to give direction on how to go about using the THRASS resources. It is truly amazing how though visual and voice media one can learn so much of the English language. The resources available on the THRASS website will help us a lot in teaching children. The course helps to make us aware of all available resources.

A dynamic presentation. A unique approach to teaching of reading, aimed towards Foundation Phase. I would love a follow-up course aimed at the Senior Phase, i.e. how to reinforce the basic concepts with the older learner.

Interesting. Loved the variety of methods. Your enthusiasm is amazing, Hilary.

Thank you for such a lovely course. I now know what I have been doing in the 15 Minutes a Day. The songs are a big hit. Pity I never thought of actions before! You help underprivileged schools, but do you help the middle class schools who are just getting by on their school fees?

I believe in the principles of THRASS – but I also believe that learners should engage in learning all the time. A workshop setting (perhaps around tables) could perhaps be more conducive to real engagement with the learning materials. I now need to engage with all the learning material and “unlearn” what we have been taught (and what we had been teaching) for many years.

I gained a lot from the training and I wish and hope that it’s going to help me to impart the knowledge and skills to the teachers that I am training. You are a star, Hilary.

Wonderful programme! Presentation - fantastic. Lovely aid for teaching reading and spelling.

I have learnt so much. Wish that I had teachers who used THRASS when I was a learner in school. Excellent presentation by Hilary.

Excellent course. Learned a lot. Motivated to teach my kids English.

Super, energetic presentation. Excellent programme that should be part of every school. Would really like to use it to teach Afrikaans as well!

An excellent presentation! I am very excited to start using the course principles in my work with children whose first language is not English. I learnt a lot!

A wonderful course. Very inspiring with lots of new ideas to take back to our classes. Nice to know that what we have read in the manuals is so clear, because we have been able to teach the children before going on the course. Lovely, copiable ideas.

Wonderful opportunity! Very interesting and will be of great value. I really enjoyed Hilary and the way she presented the course. Thanks for your dedication to the education system in South Africa.

I was extremely excited to be able to do this course, but was unfortunately disappointed. Some excellent ideas were given, but overall I found the pace very slow and the teaching too basic. I think that this could be a very good spelling programme for older children, but also think that it could be very confusing for the child with learning difficulties. I will be using it in school, but will most probably supplement it with other ideas.

It was an excellent course – very professional, outstanding presentation. It was a lot of information to assimilate in two days, though.

Very informative. Made a lot more sense of what graphemes meant and how to introduce them. Key graphemes made sense at long last. Really enjoyed the different ideas on how to introduce the various teaching aids, new ideas for games, etc. Can’t wait to get back into the classroom. Fantastic!

I thoroughly enjoyed the course. It was incredibly informative and very entertaining. I’m looking forward to applying my new knowledge in the classroom.

Very energetic, fun-filled presentation! For a first timer, I found it a bit too much information at times, but with time, things became more clear! I am sure that, with time, Hilary’s facial expressions and love for the subject will still echo in my mind. I will definitely do my bit for THRASS!

Superb! Think everyone (adults and children) can gain from this – I learnt a lot! I understand “English and its phonics” better now.

A most informative and fun-filled two days! Many questions have been answered as to how to implement THRASS in a secondary school, where bridging is imperative. I feel so motivated to start this programme at our school.
