Dynamic, interactive, fun! Excellent delivery, as last time.

A very intensive and informative day which was extremely enjoyable and excellently presented. The two days have made me feel much more confident and knowledgeable teaching reading and spelling skills.

Very enjoyable and informative, especially Keyword Synthesis. Look forward to Phoneme Machine.

Lovely day with great ideas and resources. I now feel more confident with my subject knowledge of phonics. The profilecards will be a useful assessment tool.

I have enjoyed the course and hope that when I am helping in class as TA, I will be able to put it into practice. I am very keen to use the charts for French & Spanish! Very instructive and enthusiastic.

The second day of the course was just as informative and enjoyable as the first. There is a lot of information to take in, but the way that the most important points were constantly reinforced was very helpful (e.g. difference between a digraph and a blend). Excellent delivery!

Yet again, a fabulous course. Very fast, lots of great information. I feel much more equipped to continue assisting the class with THRASS. Lots of new ideas and games to take away with me.

Excellent. As Day 2 followed Day 1, so quickly, everything was still fresh. Clarified many areas that have been cloudy for years. Interesting, exciting and entertaining. Can’t wait to continue with THRASS.

Today consolidated the info from the first day and I feel much more confident using THRASS. I can see how I can use it in teaching reading and writing along with Reading Recovery.

The course was very informative and I have learnt a lot about phonics and how to teach it.

Alan delivered Day 2 of the course extremely well again. Much more intense today with a lot to take in, but I feel more confident and able to deliver what I’ve learnt to the children.

Another great day! Fantastic teaching of the basics of phonics. Feel much more confident in my own knowledge and have got to grips with the technical terms.

I am glad I have had the opportunity to do Day 2 of the course. I feel I now have a much better understanding of the program and an increased confidence in using it in the classroom.

The final day of training gave me further knowledge of THRASS, ideas to teach THRASS and cleared some confusion of teaching techniques. I feel more confident in the articulation of sounds.

Yet again an enjoyable course, taking both my own understanding of phonics and how it can be taught effectively to a further level. Many of the activities will be highly involving for the children, addressing all learners. The Phoneme Machine is an excellent resource!

Fully enjoyed both days with lots of information well presented. The day went quickly and I leave the course with lots of enthusiasm and ideas to implement the scheme in class.

Superb delivery ensuring we all followed and kept wide awake. Lots of different ways to deliver the building blocks. Good range of resources. The only criticism I have is that there was a huge amount to take in during the day – especially the afternoon. But – hugely enjoyable and worthwhile!

Once again, a very informative session and has helped greatly with recognition of diphthongs, digraphs and blends. The greatest compliment I can give is that after the first day, my daughter was very interested in what I had done and now thanks to THRASS, she can spell treasure etc - and with confidence. Excellent resources and an excellent ‘demonstrator’ in Alan.

Day 2 was useful for revision of the scheme and subject knowledge. I would have liked more ideas for activities, as many of the ideas suggested have already been trialled.

Very enjoyable – plenty to work on, even with upper juniors.

Enjoyed the day, was a little worried having missed first session but soon got the hang of it. I feel this is a great way to teach children and, as a parent, I will be using the website at home for my own kids.

A very well structured course which I can use both in the classroom and at home with my own children. Useful reminder and reinforcement of training from Day 1.

On the whole, a very well-structured and entertaining delivery. Lots of opportunities for questions and answers. Relaxed approach assisted learning. Some repetition from Day 1 but useful reinforcement.

Thoroughly enjoyable – particularly the articulation aspect, which cleared some confusion. Gave a range of exciting opportunities and teaching methods. Would love to see interactive THRASS charts on ICT.

Very informative. The whole experience was very interesting and interactive. We were given the option to ask questions and join in where necessary. I felt made at ease, making it easier to learn and absorb the information. Even though I had not completed the first day I did not feel left behind. In my role as teaching assistant, I will encourage the THRASS and feel confident in doing so.
