FAMILIES HAVING FUN THROUGH SINGING AND READING

THRASS MOVE-A-LONG WITH
SING-A-LONG WORKSHOP,
BARBADOS, APRIL 10, 2008

Portable Document Format

Focus: Caribbean Dyslexia Association

Extraordinary! THRASS has done it again. Your Sing-A-Long is multicultural. It is MUSIC! The children will love it. There is so much enthusiasm within the entire programme and you can teach so much to the children through the “Sing-A-Long”. It’s inspiring. Thank you so much to the THRASS team. Great Job!

Very interesting and entertaining. The resources will definitely help with reinforcement of reading principles especially in dyslexic children who need opportunities for over-learning. The Sing-A-Long adds a dynamic element to the process and activities. It appears to be easy to integrate into the classroom and assists co-ordination which is a plus. Great!

Very interactive, enjoyable and very appropriate for learners. The music incorporated into learning of sounds and spelling choices makes it easy for children. It is a programme I will definitely try. It is a natural way for children to learn since they love music and movement.

Very interesting, interactive and entertaining. I think it would be very easy for the children to learn and they would enjoy it very much. It would really be a good idea to be introduced into the schools.

Very informative and interesting. I believe it will be very useful to teach dyslexic students how to read. I also like the programme because of its multisensory nature. In all it is a very good learning programme.

I have always thought the idea of teaching through singing is a great one. I can see how these songs can be useful in teaching the sounds and in helping with spelling.

A brilliant idea. I can see this working with children and adults also. I like the diversity and the room for adaptation as many of my students are dyspraxic. I can already see how small changes can be made and integrated to meet the needs of a child with poor sequencing or weak auditory discrimination. Thank you team THRASS!

I would like to try it a bit before commenting. However, I enjoyed the presentation and am very excited to try it all. I work with some dyslexics and will enjoy introducing it to them.

Very interesting and informative. I think it is a very good programme for children as it covers auditory, visual, kinesthetic aspects of learning. An excellent idea, I only wish I could be part of more sessions like this!

Fantastic – so much fun! This is a great way to improve the ability of my students to learn how to spell. Definitely Sing-A-Long will lessen boredom in my classroom and THRASS has already done that!

Wonderful! I know my students will love this. It is the right mix of fun and education. I am so glad I attended the workshop.

FANTASTIC! I can see the possibilities and the enormous scope of this program. It was an extremely enjoyable and educational experience.

Very enlightening and well-presented. It was fun and interesting. The music was appropriate and helps children learn the sounds and spelling choices that they need to know. It was taught in a way that everyone can understand and Janine was a fun and knowledgeable teacher. I enjoyed it a lot.

The workshop is a wonderful way to reinforce what I have already begun to do in my teaching sessions using THRASS. I like the fact that it has a varied selection of songs and rhythms that most can relate with. Being introduced to Sing-A-Long will give me the confidence I need to help the children that I teach.
