GUIDED TRAINING FOR TEACHERS, ASSISTANTS AND PARENTS

THRASS ONE-DAY FOUNDATION,
TORBAY, APRIL 20, 2007

Portable Document Format

An excellent day, with lots of information for us to implement in school. An excellent resource.

A very useful day. I can see THRASS making a big difference in our school.

Useful activities and a good pace. Enjoyed the day. Hope my school will undertake this.

Really interesting. I wish I had learnt this at University (Teacher training). Very good resources and ideas to use.

Very enthusiastic and informative presentation, much to take on board. Hope we implement THRASS.

Feel very positive about THRASS. It seems comprehensive and logical. It needs to be a whole school approach to be successful I think. The time went quickly. I felt engaged all day.

Lots of great ideas – hope to implement it soon.

Thank you for giving me the ‘Map’ to use instead of just telling children the directions.

Very comprehensive and logical. I particularly liked the idea of letters as players waiting for a role. It makes the anomalies so much easier to explain.

Very informative, very useful (lots of acronyms).

The course was very interesting and useful giving me lots of good ideas and thought provoking questions. I found it especially useful relating it to the foundation stage.

Made lots of sense! Would like more detail for use with Upper Juniors. Not sure about the letter formation.

Very informative for someone who had no formal phonics training and teaches in KS2. Resources very useful, but frustrating when children are coming from different backgrounds and have used other schemes. Also, useful personally for my own children!

An innovative, interesting approach.

Excellent presentation. Very good resources. Look forward to using THRASS.

The course made a lot of sense. However, some elements did seem repetitive. I will look forward to trying it with my class.

Very interesting and enjoyable. So much information to take in – wish it had been longer!

Very inspiring – brilliant on engaging the audience. Will take on board what I have learnt today but feel that I need more reinforcement, e.g. Day 2! Like kinaesthetic (spelling!) approach.

A very good course with lots of practical information to use in the classroom. I like the progression, which can be easily tracked throughout the school. You kept us thinking throughout the day with lots of interactive activities, but please think about your use of swear words.

Lively presentation. Liked your dancing and impressions. Lots of things to take back to the classroom.

Really enjoyable training day. Great to have someone so enthusiastic and passionate. This scheme makes a lot of sense and I think it would work well if implemented.

Great ideas and well delivered. Given confidence to deliver in school and feel that many of my class will benefit from THRASS. Good demonstration and use of resources. Good pace.

Great new idea and worth it. Very entertaining. Fun and innovative. Kids will enjoy (and teachers).

A very informative day. A lot to take in but very interesting to compare THRASS with NLS messages.

Very interesting and informative. I will be excited to help implement this along with the teacher I work with.

Very inspiring. Can’t wait to start!

Fantastic! This will support my future teaching.

Great day, enjoyed it all and found it very informative as both a TA and as a mother of two young children. Would definitely be interested in learning more.

Made a lot of sense.

A good introduction to THRASS. It was well presented and very informative. I could see it working if it was a whole school approach.

A simple way to explain sounds that relate to spelling a word, with a visual choice from the chart.

The realism of sounds I think will enhance moderate/severe deaf children more so than now and will be interesting with SEN and hopefully be quicker to learn.

Very clear. Enthusiastic teaching. Nice to see evidence to back up theory. Very enjoyable.

Interesting day.

Great and enjoyable course. Easy to understand. Good ideas.

I thought this course was very interesting. I think this is a better way to teach children, and makes it fun for both the teacher and child.

Very informative. Lots to take in, but well presented. Manuals, teacher’s guide etc. – quite scary!

A really good whistle-stop tour of the THRASS approach. Look forward to seeing the results when we implement THRASS at our school.

Lots of useful information but a lot to take in in one day. Lively presentation made it easier to take on board all the information.

A lot to take on board in a day, but has given me lots to think about and work through in future weeks. Interesting.

Very interesting and informative. It “brought together”, made sense of Rose Review recommendations for phonics teaching and Dyslexic Institute training – useful for whole class, quality first teaching and to support children with SEN.

I have enjoyed the day and found it very interesting. Spelling has never been my strong point, and I feel if I had been taught this way I wouldn’t have had the problems.

Thanks Alan, what a super day – I can’t wait to start with the children – next week I hope!

Excellent. Informative. Inspiring. Absorbing. Enrapturing
