GUIDED TRAINING FOR TEACHERS, ASSISTANTS AND PARENTS

95: THRASS Project, Sheffield LEA, England NOV 1995

Project conclusion “The THRASS intervention appears to have had significant effects throughout the age ranges with substantial gains being made by the children in reading and spelling. The majority of the teachers found the training course challenging and rewarding, and that their understanding and knowledge of the place of a phonic approach within a balanced language curriculum was enhanced through the course. The evaluation concludes that children who are finding the process of reading and writing difficult can make significant progress given enthusiastic, systematic, and regular instruction.” Copies from the Director of Education, Education Department, Leopold Street, Sheffield.
