SOUTHERN C0URIER, April 12, 2006
Johannesburg, South Africa

Final year teaching students, Natalie Baptista, Lorenza Condon, Natasha Velimitovic and Lauren Kraemer, from the College of Education Wits, are off to the UK to learn more about a new programme called THRASS (Teaching, Handwriting, Reading And Spelling Skills).

The students are all qualified to teach Foundation Phase learners and they are off to visit Cardiff and Milton Keynes as well as other towns in England and Wales. "With the knowledge learnt over there we will bring it back here and implement the programme said Natalie.

They will be going with six other students from the College of Education Wits under the wing of Dr Jean Place.

"We are asking for any sponsorship of any kind. Whether it be a small cash donation, t-shirts, caps, and African gifts that we could give to our host families. Anything will be very much appreciated.

"We are not only going over as teachers but also as ambassadors for the College of Education Wits" they concluded.
