CrawfordSchools™ has
been a part of South African education for just over ten years but already the
schools that make up the Crawford Collection constitute the largest single
private school organisation in South Africa. From the beginning of 2007, all the
schools are following the lead of Crawford Fourways School and are implementing
THRASS, a decision that is expected to have a big impact on the independent
sector in many countries.
THRASS UK has
made a video of THRASS in action at Crawford Fourways in which the
Principal of the Preparatory School, Jopie Maasdam, explains why he feels that
the investment that the school has made in THRASS has been such excellent value.
The teachers at the school really enjoy THRASS and are very enthusiastic about
the resources. They have group sessions every month to share experiences of what
the children can and can’t do and are now starting a parents’ course where they
will be giving parents tips on how to help the children with their homework.
There has been huge interest in this, as the parents are really interested in
seeing how the whole programme is put together.
Teachers from other Crawford schools have visited Crawford
Fourways School and the Crawford Fourways teachers have done talks for parents
at other schools to introduce THRASS to them. THRASS is described as the best
thing that ever happened to Crawford Fourways School and it has now simply
become the way things are done in Crawford schools.
