ABSA LAUNCHES EDUCATION PLAN

Citizen Reporter, July 2007.

A South African bank in partnership with the University of the Witwatersrand
(Wits), yesterday launched the “Teaching Handwriting Reading And Spelling Skills programme”.

Absa’s Miranda Lusiba said the programme aimed at assisting those in need of English literacy help, and would target pupils at foundation level as well as their teachers, as this was a crucial stage for children to develop life-long skills.

The plan was conceived after it was found Grade one to three pupils from most poverty-stricken areas struggled to pass English.
