THRASS with Autistic Children
Western Cape, South Africa, May 2010

Lyn Thijsse, an Educational Psychologist, describes the big difference which THRASS has made for autistic children who had previously struggled with reading and literacy, and in particular phonics. We hear how THRASS engages the children. Since THRASS is a visually-based system with a structured chart, it is ideally suited to autistic children, who are strong visual learners and like routine and structure. We are able to watch two children happily working with their teacher using the class-size THRASS Picturechart – matching and collecting pictures using the THRASS Picture Cards
