96: SHARING GOOD PRACTICES

During 30 years of teaching I have seen a large number of methods to teach reading, but those for handwriting and spelling have been sadly lacking. This always seemed an anomaly as the three are linked.

A year ago I discovered THRASS (Teaching Handwriting Reading and Spelling Skills). This is a phonographic (phoneme-grapheme) language programme. It is not “the complete programme” especially where reading is concerned but many schools are using it for their handwriting and spelling programme. I have now joined them.
