THRASS UK - taking what is
already good and making it better.

D - COURSE EVALUATIONS

31 May 10: Gauteng, South Africa

"Excellent presenter – entertaining, inspiring and well-experienced. I like the different techniques e.g. dancing and music, as it can only enhance learning. I think THRASS can assist children with learning problems to perform well in school in a fun way and make them feel that they can also be ‘somebody’."

21 May 10: Swaziland

"A very enlightening course, we thoroughly enjoyed all the teaching and implementation tips for teachers. It was great to be refreshed in THRASS. We are re-inspired and encouraged to teach."

17 May 10: KZN, South Africa (NAPTOSA)

"An awesome exciting day. Felt good that we are on the right track but also feel inspired by all the new ideas and resources. Thanks you so much for a wonderful programme."

29 Jan 10: Gauteng, South Africa

"Revelatory, revolutionary, liberating, healing, powerful, almost overwhelming, exciting, beautifully and lovingly designed – and communicated – humbling and totally, TOTALLY, motivational! These hardly begin to describe, in understated terms, how I would describe the experience of this course. I’ve spent two days making a list of all those friends who I will COMPEL to do this course, too!"

27 Jan 10: Western Cape, S Africa (MAL)

"This was so much fun and really worth it! It will also make teaching a whole lot more fun."

"Fun! Fun! Fun! Learners learn best through play and fun-filled environment. Sing-A-Long really allows optimal opportunity for this. Also highly informative. This resource is great as it has multiple purposes! It was a real privilege for me to participate today!"

"Most enjoyable programme ever! This is a lot of fun and educational for the learners. I would suggest it to any teacher and any school."

"This Sing-A-Long is really fun and it’s an eye opener that shows just how fun and exciting we can make learning the English language. It is really good that teachers in training are shown how to do this course because it can be really beneficial to learners from an early age across the world."

16 Sep 09: Western Cape, South Africa

"Hilary, your input last night (at the Parents’ Meeting) and today was awe-inspiring. Lots of new ideas to add to what I’ve been doing but also an encouragement that what I’m doing is right!"

21 Jul 09: Harare, Zimbabwe

"Hilarious and educational! A wonderful workshop."
"Very educative. Best phonics workshop that I have attended!"
"Brilliant! This workshop will go down in history as one of the major milestones in the reawakening of the education system in Zimbabwe. I have learnt a lot! Well done Alan and Hilary!
"

15 May 09: Eastern Cape, S Africa (MAL)

"Wow! What a lovely, energetic and enjoyable course! Never thought that I would be jumping and jiving a-long to these songs in front of everyone. Janine was spectacular so energetic and wonderful to listen to, making it so easy to interact. Loved it!"

SOUND IT OUT!
Released on 26 May 2010
"If in doubt, SOUND IT OUT!"
If a child is unable to read a word, schools advise parents to help their child ‘sound it out’, by using letter sounds and not the names of letters. In this way, children (from as young as the age of five) are encouraged to sound out the words that they cannot read by using simple phonics (by giving each letter one sound)...
