Title: Improve our delivery of THRASS

The scheme promises to improve our  delivery of THRASS across the school.

Alan: The 'Criteria that define an Effective Phonics Programme', published by the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) in England, September 2006, is on www.thrass.co.uk/downloadsdocs14.htm so that teachers in the UK and other countries can see the present thinking of the British Government. For information, one of the listed features is 'be delivered in discrete daily sessions at a brisk pace that is well matched to children's developing abilities'. We believe that the THRASS programme scores 'more than the maximum' points for the given criteria! Please keep us informed of developments.

Title: Finding it most helpful

The staff have begun to use 15 Mins and are finding it most helpful. The feedback at last night's staff meeting was very positive despite the fact that we have only been using it for a few days.
